Phantom: I AM ABOUT TO END THIS MAN’S WHOLE CAREER.
Sometimes I like to go to FFN and toggle my fics by reviews. It reveals wildly interesting stuff, like the fact that Digging Up Bones has more reviews than Flashes of a Lifetime Together, and also the lowest views to reviews ratio (approximately 1 review to 12 views).
Presence of an E/C romance in a fic does not equate to a lower views to reviews ratio, as proved by Cartography (1 review to 519 views), Tender is a Kiss (1 review to 65 views), and Tinder Date (1 review to 32.8 views). By far the best numbers I have for an E/C fic is for Twin Hearts, Echoed (1 review to 26 views)
The older a fic is the worse the numbers get, presumably because readers are more likely to read it and then move on without reviewing. Cartography is a particularly dramatic example of this, being my most viewed fic, but only my eighth most reviewed (14,542 views, 28 reviews), while Etched with Tears (1 review to 77 views) is my second most viewed and second most reviewed (10,593 views, 137 reviews).
Wraiths of Wandering continues to be my most reviewed fic, and has one of the lower views to reviews ratios (1 review to 25 views). This position may or may not change in coming months depending on how far I continue Running Through the Rain, currently in third place on the reviews table (1 review to 17 views).
Considering the data for two of my Philippe/Sorelli fics, Heart Gets Torn (1 review to 12.7 views) and As If From the Dead, Resurrected (1 review to 12 views), as well as Country Retreat (1 review to 14 views), After the Funeral (1 review to 15 views), several of my other fics, and Digging Up Bones, the only conclusion I can come to is that niche fics are likely to have lower views to reviews ratios, which doesn’t necessarily equate to a lot of reviews but is indicative that the fans of these fics are more likely to review. Possibly because it’s rarer content to find.
I don’t know is any one else into this sort of analysis, but to me it seemed like a more interesting way to compare my fics. Plus bringing it down to a ratio accounts for fics that have a lot of chapters and a lot of views because of that. Another time I’ll do views to reviews to chapters, just to get a better sense of the numbers overall.
@glassprism replied to your post “Ok I’m doing it. I’m making a list of Phantoms to download and listen...”
If you liked Karrie, then Dave Willetts, Ethan Freeman, Scott Davies, and Marcus Lovett are all great!
Aaaahhhh thank you! I’m after downloading so many Scott Davies audios I think my laptop is going to combust, but I’ve gotten the others too. Can’t wait to listen to them all!
An old Swedish folksong about lost love, a capella. I have a PotO headcanon that Christine’s mother would sing this to her when she was a child.
The last line goes roughly :
“So thank you for having been my one consolation and comfort
and for all the times I’ve found peace in your arms
we shall see eachother again, one day, in Heaven”
(Additional headcanon that Christine shows up just in time to sing this to Erik before he dies in the fifth cellar)
i'm listening to the poto soundtrack and my favorite memory is during down once more when phantom sings "christine i love you" and this rly attractive violinist and i made direct eye contact as we both passionately mouthed the words "i love you" and it was a beautiful experience.
I'm 10x meaner when Shosha isn't here. I watched POTO with Ma today, and I think I said, 'Oh God, call the waaaaaaaaaahmbluance for Erik!' at least three times.
what i knew/assumed/thought about phantom of the opera before being re-introduced to it

i had no idea who the hell raoul was (i regret that terribly
