Beautiful Disaster
@mindthevoices [h.potter]
She sat, her foot under her leg behind the counter at a muggle cafe, both her hands were wrapped around a steaming cup of tea. Her hair was pulled up in a messy bun and she had a charcoal pencil holding it up. On the work table was her sketchpad full of beautiful, and not so beautiful, fashion designs. It had taken a full year and a half to get to this peaceful place for Pansy, the disowned daughter of the great wizarding Parkinson family. And for once, she was ... very nearly... content.
She’d hit rock bottom after the war, and skidded into the dregs of humanity, both wizarding and not, doing unspeakable things to survive, things she’d never tell her grandkids about, things she tried to Obliviate herself of. She’d honed the ability to compartmentalize her life into the must remember and must forget section of her brain. The wizarding world run by the Light, after all, was not kind to the girl who’d called for the Savior’s untimely demise, never mind her reasons for having done so. And she found refuge from the abuse and ostracization in the muggle world, of all places. Pansy had managed by her Slytherin smarts, her snarky wit, and feminine wiles. It was the latter and this job that were helping her pay for food, shelter and college, where she was pursuing a muggle degree in fashion design.
Pansy was working on a new dress line for class, one that was fashioned after some of Maulkin’s work, but with undertones of the auror uniform cut. It was an homage to him, really. The wizard she loved to hate. Because if it hadn’t been for him she’d be someone’s pureblooded socialite wife by now, running her own manor and post-war charity. And for the freedom to be who she was, she was curiously thankful.
And alone. Alone in the muggle world. The bell of the cafe’s door jangled signaling a customer. She sighed and got up to go stand behind the cash register, pasting on a smile to greet the new customer.
A Chance Meeting

Pansy gripped her portfolio, which she’d painstakingly put together the night before. In it she carried all of her permits, applications and writs that would not only allow her back into the Wizarding community, but also give permission to rent commercial property and open a business. The whole of it, she thought, was absurd. Just because Pansy had left the Wizarding World, had somewhat distant ties to Death Eaters and she was a pureblood, she now had to prove to the Ministry she didn’t have any nefarious plans to dabble in the dark arts. She supposed she’d have to also sign some asinine pledge of loyalty to the Light while she got her papers notarized. She’d avoided the Ministry building like the plague because she knew somewhere within the structure sat the green-eyed wizard she’d tried to shuttle off to Voldemort when she was all of 17-years-old.
But today’s trip couldn’t be avoided and she was doing her best to remain inconspicuous. The only thing she wore that was the least bit titillating were her 3-inch dragon scale heels beneath a long sweeping robe that hid every bit of her soft feminine curves. She sighed in relief when she stepped into an empty lift, but just as she was about to press a well-manicured fingertip to the 8th floor button, a masculine hand slipped between the doors that had nearly slid shut.
