5th Yule Lad - Pottasleikir / Pottaslefill Day 10 - Grýla Yule Family series
From Icelandic folklore. Son of the Giant Gryla.
Pottasleikir / Pottaslefill. is one of the Yule Lads. The 13 sons of Gryla who come down from the mountain with her and cause all kinds of mischief. While deliver gifts in the shoes of good children. And rotten potatoes in the shoes of bad.
His name translates to the 'Pot Scraper". Pottasleikir is the fifth to arrive, on Dec 16th, and the fifth to leave, on Dec 29th. He is sharp eyed, and has good ears for listening, and a strong tongue for all the licking of pots. He is less mischievous that a lot of his brothers, usually just looking for some good food. He'll often distract people away from the kitchen with noises and sneak into homes and steal all the food from pots, and cauldrons, and deep plates. He is sharper than his brother the spoon licker, knowing to look and hide in the deeper pots for food, and is an appreciator of all kinds of foods. Even though he loves finding the food for him to lick up, he hates that people think it's ok to leave out wasted food, though he may have softened a bit on this as he's likely noticed that some families leave a touch of food out for him deliberately.
