Minister Granger resigns, admits to murdering Harry Potter
In a note found on Hermione Granger’s desk, the Minister admits to having killed Harry Potter. The note was found by an employee of the Magical Maintenance department. Granger had failed to show up to work that day and has not been seen since the day before. Head of the DMLE Blaise Zabini confirms that she is wanted for questioning and considered a dangerous fugitive.
The Ministry offers a reward of 100,000 Galleons to anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ms Granger. Story continued on page 2.
“We cannot confirm whether the contents of the note are true,” said Zabini during a press conference. “But the handwriting matches Ms. Granger’s and we have no reason at present moment not to take it seriously.” In the note, Granger admits to having been the one to kill Harry Potter and that she has opted to live in self imposed exile. This contradicts the statement she gave in August and the DMLE will conduct an investigation on the proceedings of said statement.
Hermione Granger has been stripped from her position as Minister of Magic. The Ministry has confirmed in a press conference that Dolores Umbridge will be taking over her post. Umbridge urges anyone who comes across Ms. Granger to alert the authorities immediately, as she is armed and dangerous. “Please do not attempt to use magic against Granger,” said Ms. Umbridge. “And proceed with caution and constant vigilance. The last thing we want is for Ms. Granger to claim any more victims.”

The Daily Prophet is quite clearly biased in their approach of the situation, and other media outlets such as Veritas, the Quibbler and Wizarding Wireless Network are more objective.
Characters can easily conclude that the Death Eaters are behind this, especially considering Umbridge’s history. However, as the plot progresses, propaganda will continue to be spread about Hermione’s “corrupt behavior”. Whether your character believes it is up to you.
HERE’S WHAT THE DEATH EATERS KNOW.
Yennefer Malstrom is given credit for Hermione’s kidnapping.
This is the first step towards the Ministry Coup, which has now officially begun. The Death Eaters who work for the Ministry are instructed to continue to work undercover.
Steps will be taken to put certain Ministry employees under the Imperius curse. Performance reviews will also be conducted, which will pretty much be interrogations of people suspected of being Order members who work at the Ministry. Tracking spells will also be placed on them during these meetings to keep them under heavy surveillance. Suspected Order members who don’t work for the Ministry will be called in for interrogations as well, but it will also be under the guise of something mundane. They will all be obliviated about these meetings afterwards.
If you want your character to be “invited” for a meeting, please come talk to us! They don’t have to be Order aligned for this, but the Death Eaters would probably need a reason to suspect them.
This is all announced during a meeting where all Death Eaters are present.
HERE’S WHAT THE ORDER KNOWS.
Hermione did not kill Harry. The Order does not believe it for one second.
Whether Hermione is alive or dead, however, is unknown.
Jimmy has come clean to Ron about having sold out Hermione to Yennefer. The Order leaders will have a discussion about what to do, in regards to what to do about Jimmy, whether the rest of the Order will find out and whether they should start thinking about a replacement for Hermione.
After this, there will also be a general meeting called for all the members to discuss what the leaders have decided.
You are cordially invited to the grand opening of the Loreley, the newest in a long chain of magical resorts, this New Year’s Eve.
The evening holds many promises: opulence, golden champagne, performances, networking, and even a much anticipated auction. The grand prize? A ring that traces back to the Gaunt family. A ring that both the Death Eaters and Order desperately want. A ring that can be traced back to Voldemort.
Tonight, every attendee has an agenda, whether it is to simply have fun, mess with an ex, snoop around this grand hotel or to get their hands that ring. Let’s hope they don’t get distracted by the glittering ceiling, golden champagne bubbles, and temptation of a life of luxury.
[ FURTHER INFORMATION ] We have now moved to a new timestamp, which is December 26 through New Year’s Eve. You are more than allowed to continue threads from previous timestamps! Important things to note about this timestamp, aside from the event are:
Danielle Goyle and Valeria Crabbe were brought into a meeting around the beginning of this timestamp and made an example out of, sending off a clear message: you’re stuck with us and the only way to leave is in a coffin.
The interrogations at the Ministry continue. The Order is not yet aware of the fact that their memories have been tinkered with, nor are they aware of the tracking spells put on them. New Year’s Eve might change that. There is one caveat to the tracking spells though, which is that they do not work in places that are unplottable or protected by a Fidelius Charm. Thus, if any characters goes into a place that is heavily warded or guarded with protection spells and masking charms, they will simply disappear. Most people’s homes would be under these protection, along with the Order safehouses and Hogwarts. The Death Eaters expect that the Order of the Phoenix will figure this out eventually, and the tracking spells were mostly done for the purposes of this event to make sure they can stop the Order of the Phoenix from ruining their plans for the night.
Hermione is still gone, and there has been no news from her. Ron is now a suspect as well and has been accused of tinkering with the Veritaserum with which Hermione gave her testimony right after Harry’s murder. He’s currently under investigation.

Attendees have to buy tickets and/or be invited. There are three tier tickets:
Tier 1: Entrance to the general party & access to the open bar.
Tier 2: Everything from tier 1 & access to the auction.
Tier 3: Everything from tier 1 and 2 & a private suite for a night.
There are press cards/tickets for journalists, which give them access to everything. Rich people, influential people, public figures, etc. have a high chance of being invited and granted a Tier 3 ticket. Unsure whether yours would be a recipient of this? Check with Em and Amanda!
There will be performances by Manny Luna and Esmeralda Selwyn.
The hotel has many hidden security cameras and a secret camera room that allows the family to keep an eye on everything that is happening in the hotel. There are also hidden passageways in the hotel that only the family and staff are aware of.
The Order of the Phoenix has developed spy earpieces for everyone in attendance that will allow them to communicate with each other easily. These communication devices have a strong Disillusionment charm on them to prevent others from seeing them. If your character wants to say something, all they need to do is lightly tap on the device and then speak.
These are the journalists present: Cecily Skeeter (on the behalf of Witch Weekly), Damien Yaxley (on behalf of Veritas), Felix Jordan-Weasley (on behalf of the Quibbler), Rhys Morgan (on behalf of Veritas), Vesta Rowle (on behalf of the Daily Prophet).
The auction will be going all night until midnight and end with the auctioning of the ring. The Death Eaters plan on buying it and relying on their old (blood) money, whereas the Order has a string of plans, from a money pool to relying on Nik Valentine to trying to steal the ring, should they not be able to get their hands on it. This is something we can all plot collaboratively.
Most people have an alternative agenda, but the event is also incredibly well-organised and entertaining. There’s a big chance that your character might be a bit distracted by the diamond dust hanging high in the air, the self filling champagne flutes that float around, or the room that appeals to your senses.
However, there is bound to be a lot of snooping, backstabbing, eavesdropping, etc. Maybe things will turn even dirtier later in the night, though this is something we will drop on you (feel free to come to us with any ideas though!).
The Death Eaters’ want the ring too, but their main objective is actually to cause a distraction. This event is to be a red herring (but for what, no one really knows, though they will soon enough). How they distract, that is up to you: throw a scene, manipulate, scheme, seduce, etc.
The Order’s main objective is to keep an eye out, to keep their ears sharp and to be there should anything bad happen. They are also, of course, set on getting the ring, as they assume it is a horcrux. Not all Order members know about the horcruxes at present, but the leaders most definitely all do.
As for neutral characters…that is entirely up to you!
Not everyone will be in attendance, and here are some plot points to consider for them:
At Hogwarts, there will be a small New Year’s Eve party for the students who are staying behind. With Diomedes gone, it’s bound to be a rather light-hearted evening. Students are encouraged to come dressed however they want, whether that’s in pyjama’s or in dress robes. There will be some fireworks, courtesy of WWW and Georgie Jordan-Weasley.
The Death Eaters have been instructed to distract the entire wizarding population this evening, and the event is of course a great way to. There are also, however, those who are tasked with raising some more simple, purely aggressive havoc in an attempt to draw Order members out.
On the other hand, the Order has also made sure that there’s at least two people per safehouse to keep an eye on things. They have given those staying behind one of the DA coins, so they can easily communicate with those at the event.
It’s around 1am, when the full Auror and Hit Wix-force arrives. It’s around then, that the Death Eaters start to disapparate, one by one, quickly following each other, leaving Diagon Alley in shambles. They did not have an end goal, per se, just wished to instill terror, and that is certainly something they managed to do.
In the ruins, people rush to each other’s aid. St Mungo’s is about to be very busy, as is 12 Grimmauld Place. A lot of people go home, as they seem to be in agreement that tomorrow, they will try and rebuild. Some stay, looking through the ruins, helping, most of them Ministry officials but some volunteers.
There are still some halloween decorations burning, a stark reminder of what this evening was supposed to be. Sure, Halloween is the time for horror movies and spookiness, but not like this. One thing is clear: the wizarding world is in a state of war, and the Death Eaters are not holding back.
Important details: the timestamp will now follow real life time, but then nine years into the future. The battle happened on Halloween. A lot of details about interactions can be found in the server. If you have any questions, please feel free to come to us! Under the cut are more details about common knowledge for your characters, though please note that this is not exhaustive and might be added onto!
This is what is common knowledge, due it being published in mainstream media (such as the Daily Prophet and aired on WWN).
A fair amount of people got injured, and are being treated at St Mungo’s at the moment. The hospital requests people to please only come during visiting hours and only to visit immediate family, as they are overcrowded.
The people that are injured and were named in the Prophet are:
A fair amount of members of the Weasley family. Ron and Rose, the Minister’s husband and daughter, are both in St Mungo’s. Fred Weasley II and Molly Weasley II are as well. It is mentioned that Paris Moody saved Molly’s life. Lastly, Arthur Weasley is also staying in the hospital. It’s mentioned that the Weasleys seem to be targeted.
Olive, Fiorella and Neville Longbottom. Besides this, it is also mentioned that Neville’s mental state has been damaged because he was subjected to the cruciatus curse. This is fake news, but published.
Raphael Brown-Patil, quidditch star.
Erin Figg, Ministry employee.
There are 12 deceased. Not all of them are identifiable, and some of the identities are left anonymous. These are the ones mentioned in the Prophet by name:
Roman Jugson. It is announced that he, like his father (who currently resides in Azkaban still), was a Death Eater. An investigation about him and his involvement will follow by the DMLE. He was 37 years old. He leaves behind his mother and cousin.
Clemensia Proudfoot, a senior Auror, died of injuries in St Mungo’s. She was 55 years old. She leaves behind her life partner and a brother.
Celyn Williams, a muggleborn wix and employee at the Floo Network Authority. They were 29 years old. It is not mentioned that they leave anyone behind.
As Neville Longbottom is currently unable to do his job and needs time to recover, the Hogwarts board of governors has decided to temporarily appoint Diomedes Avery as headmaster. They intend to steer the school into calm waters in these troubling times, and as a well-known donor to the school and education in general, they have all the faith in Mr Avery. This is just a temporary solution. Mr Avery is quoted to have said that he’s ‘very honoured to be granted this opportunity, even if the circumstances are so very sad’.
Whether there was persuasion (or more than persuasion) involved is not said, though characters can definitely assume as such.
Here are some things the Order has learned about the Death Eaters. This will all become common knowledge for members, though not all at once, what with people recovering. Consider it a bleeding of information. Please feel free to use the Order channel for this!
Susan Bones has seen Pippa Greengrass without a mask, but did not recognise her.
Diomedes Avery’s voice was recognised by Olive Longbottom, and the Order now pretty much believes him to be a Death Eater. No surprises there.
Celyn Williams was an Order member. They were 29 years old and a very devoted member. They worked in the Floo Network Authority, and were thus able to eavesdrop on conversations and held a very important, informative position in the Order that is now lost. Their affiliation with the Order remains unknown to the public. Celyn did certainly leave people behind, even though the Prophet reported differently. Among them were their muggle family, as well as their friends in the Order.

hey! thank you so much for coming to us with this question, as this is definitely something we want to avoid in the group. first of all, if you feel comfortable with coming to us ( or just one of us ) off anon, either through tumblr dm’s or discord ( you can just privately message sarah or i or make a group dm, if that’s what you prefer ), that’s definitely something i recommend! that way we can go in a bit more detail and help you more. i do get that that’s not the easiest thing to do, so if you don’t feel comfy doing that, then there’s no pressure either way! just know that i’m always here to hear you out, think along with you and give my two ( or more ) cents. sarah and i are really set on making this an inclusive environment, so we’re definitely here for you. but no pressure at all, ever. <3
alright, besides that essay, here are some things i can tell you now! i think it’s important to keep in mind that it’s natural that you’ll interact with certain people more, as we’re a group where people have varying levels of activity, and some members will simply reply to you faster than others on the dash. there’s no shame in that either way, by the way! but that’s a natural reasoning as to why you might have more threads with one person than another, and i do think that is okay, as long as you’re aware of it!
something to also keep in mind here is that a lot of people are currently on semi or full hiatus. it’s no issue if you take a while to get back to someone’s dm, but a little note in the hiatus or member-updates channel can go a long way! letting someone privately know that you might take a while also works, of course.
plotting calls and/or starter calls are a good way to kind of kickstart some ooc chats and eventually threads. i want this message to serve as a reminder for people to please react to such calls as much as you can ( don’t stretch yourself too thin, of course, but it’s quite discouraging when a call gets little reactions -- i’m sure we all understand that! ). besides that, i think most, if not all members here, are very open to being randomly DM’ed with plot ideas.
that’s i think my main tip: try and reach out to people! i know that when you don’t feel like you’re fitting in, that is easier said than done, and i’m sorry to still say it. i do think it’s what will help, though.
to make plotting a little easier, you can always work on a wanted plots/connections page or even tag on your blog. as we have a lot of characters in the group, that might make it easier to establish connections between your muse(s) and those of others.
we’ll also definitely try and work on a paired task/plot drop-esque thing, if that’s something you would like? we will also work on a way to get more open starters out there, on discord as well. that really lowers the bar on starting threads with people, after all! in general, if there is anything we can do to encourage plotting with each other more, please let us know. we’re always open to suggestions!

the atmosphere was heavy, the mood somber. as hermione granger was sworn into office as the new minister for magic, the ghost of minister shacklebolt lingered in everyone’s thoughts, casting a shadow over the entire evening. kingsley shacklebolt had been the longest-serving minister of all time, and over that period, he had acquired his fair share of supporters and enemies. a symbol of the new age, an age that sought to rid the ministry of its deep corruption, kingsley had been beloved by so many but absolutely despised by a loud few. just a few months ago, he had indicated of his plans to finally step down at the end of his term to allow hermione to take over at last, and this was met with a mixed reaction from the public. even more of a revolutionist than kingsley, hermione was extremely popular among the younger generation but not with pureblood traditionalists who longed for things to go back to how they once were. with over a year before minister shacklebolt’s term was set to end, hermione was meant to have more time to campaign than this. it had been an incredibly tight race, hermione only winning by a few thousand votes. it felt like a hollow victory. although hermione had set her sights on the position years ago, no one had ever wanted her succession to be like this -- at the expense of kingsley’s life.
hermione’s inaugural speech centered around the late minister, how they all had to remember his sacrifices and honor his memory. “remember kingsley shacklebolt,” she urged one last time as a circle of phoenixes flew down to lift the shroud that covered an immense bronze statue in his honor. forever, it would remain in the ministry of magic’s atrium. at the disappearance of the phoenixes, a swelling orchestra began to play, signifying that it was time for the celebration to start. a time-honored tradition, the inaugural ball had always been a way for the new minister to thank their constituents for voting them into office, but this time, it had nearly been cancelled in the wake of all the recent murders. however, even though no one (well, almost no one) is in the mood to celebrate, the ministry of magic is eager to present a united front right now to show the death eaters that they will not be intimidated by them -- that, with the legendary hermione granger at the helm, they are stronger than ever. so in the end, the show had to go on. all of the proceeds raised at the charity ball were set to be donated to st. mungo’s in kingsley shacklebolt’s name.
