Sparking The Fireplace: Favorite Podcasts – Feature And Follow #5
Greetings Readers! I’m back with another Feature and Follow! I really appreciate all of the wonderful responses! Thank you!
This week’s prompt: What is your favorite podcasts - Both bookish and non-bookish podcasts.
Podcasts was a little treasure I discovered while I was tending graphic design school. For those who don’t know, a podcast is a downloadable audio file that can be download to a computer or portable media player. Their are a series of episodes which can be received by subscribers automatically. Depending on how broadcasters, updates their shows, they could release a new episode every week, monthly, or at their own convenience. A good podcast is well organized and stays on current topic. I do dislike it when the hosts veer off topic. When that happens it makes me want to stop listening. For awhile I did entertain the idea of doing a podcast for Firebook Fiction, but I wouldn’t want you guys have to listen to my babbling voice for an hour. I would like to have a least two co-host and would want to create an good outline about what bookish topics to talk about. Just an idea, but we shall see. You can listen and stream podcasts on the Podcast app on IOS device or a universal app called Stitcher. Here are four podcast I strongly recommend!
Dear Book Nerd — A bi-weekly show about bookish advice that answers questions about life, love, and literature!
The Split: A Young Adult Book Review Podcast For Readers And Writers — Young adult fiction authors Bryan Cohen and Robert Scanlon read and review a book each week from the reader and writer perspective. Readers can find new books to check out. Writers can learn more about the craft from two accomplished authors.
PotterCast: The Harry Potter Podcast — The only Harry Potter podcast to bring you interviews with author J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter actors, and much more. We’re discussing Deathly Hallows and Order of the Phoenix every week and are continually bringing you the best and most up to date content anywhere.
DesignChat — DesignChat is the best live Design discussion on the internet. Host Ryan McGovern invites Design rockstars to chat up the community for 1 hour a week! I recommend episodes: DC 86 – Carolina de Bartolo (She was my instructor at Academy of Art University, I learned a lot from her!) and DC 70 – Jessica Hische (She does beautiful letter work in typography.)
They haven’t done a show in a while. This podcast focuses on the principles and experience of graphic design and typography. This podcast helped me while I was attending design school. It help inspired me into creating and to use design principals, as a vehicle for the concept and design of Firebook Fiction. I strongly recommend all of my bookish blogger friends listen to at least on episode. It could inspire and give you ideas for your blog design.
This is giving me an idea. I always try to help fellow bloggers out. I would like to do a feature post about graphic design for bloggers because I believe that we want readers to have a lovely experience on our blog. I also was thing about doing a few blog posts on the fundamentals of book design and the different ways the could be created. I have tons to say on the subject. Let me know what you guys think.
