Peter Pan
“The smile, the charm, the words, the spark, everything, you had it. I guess I had a naïve heart because, boy, I let you have it. You said I was your only, never thought you'd leave me lonely. You're just a lost boy with your head up in the clouds. You're just a lost boy never keep your feet on the ground. You’re always gonna fly away, just because you know you can. You’re never gonna learn there's no such place as a Neverland. You don't understand. You'll never grow up. You're never gonna be a man, Peter Pan” The words hurt you as they come out of your mouth but you know they are stinging Sam far more. Sam had been your love but he wasn’t a man. He wasn’t good at being the guy you needed him to be. He was sitting in front of you begging for you to take him back, but you knew you couldn’t. You were tired of babysitting.
“I can change. I can grow up.” Sam says.
“Deep down, I always knew that you were too good to be true, but every piece and part of me wanted to believe in you. I guess now I know better. I know you aren’t going to change. You’re just a lost boy, and you won’t ever know what you just lost, boy.” You say and get up and walk out. It was hard for you to talk to someone you loved like that, but it would be harder for you to look yourself in the mirror if you didn’t say what you said.
