DAY 175: Exotic Yokogao

I feel like I have a REALLY broad musical palette.  I own WAY too much music. And it’s all over the board.

But I regret that I’ve spent most of my life in J-Pop’s shallow end. 

Sure, there was that half-minute when the Internet went bonkers over Babymetal. 

And yeah, I was one of those people who dropped down that rabbit hole. But my eyes wandered over to Maximum The Hormone 

& J-Pop got pushed aside.

I mean, I’ve always been peripherally infatuated with Japanese bands ever since Boredoms.

But J-Pop? A passing phase at most. 

Then I discovered THIS compilation:

If you can’t read the fine print, it says “Female J-Pop Boogie Funk: 1981 to 1988.”

And I gotta say, now I’m full-on in this shit.

Most of it’s like Zapp & Mary Jane Girls had a Japanese orgy & these women were the result. (Listen HERE) 

Now I’m jumping down seriously unnecessary rabbit holes. Please don’t talk to me about my favorite member of Pottya.
