he may not have won chungus championships today, but he took it seriously and grinded so hard to get to the finals. he made it to diamond, and watching his gameplay today, i can see why — i watched him pause, take a breath, and pearl clutch after getting hit off the fortress by an invisible either skeleton. i watched him continue after a death without getting tilted, and made up enough time to get into the stronghold at the same time as his opponent. i watched him make the right decisions in weird situations, even if it meant losing a second to stopping to think. he has been working so hard to improve this past month, and even though he didn’t win the tournament, it’s undeniable that he has improved.
and you know what? i think he’s going to be a GOOD coach for midoffs. he has this experience of himself grinding to improve for the past month, he knows what it’s like to die a lot and get tilted while learning, and how to recover from that. he knows this game, he’s GOOD at speedrunning. and i think he understands the mental of a player who is learning and trying and dying a lot better than most of the other coaches, so he’ll be able to coach the mental aspect of his players much more effectively. plus, he’s not gonna get caught up on the micro that doesn’t really matter to a gold level player.
and most of all, i want his players to do well because i Need other people to get this. i know that with hbg it’s jokes between friends, and props to poundy for letting himself be the butt of the joke so much to make for better content. but twitch chat needs to back the hell off, yesterday especially was Not Great in couri chat. his mods later were talking in infume chat about how many messages they had to delete about poundy that were crossing the line because twitch chatters don’t know it’s not appropriate to make fun of someone who isn’t their friend like that. i fear a lot of people, especially midoffs viewers who aren’t typical mcsr people don’t even understand that it Is a joke, that he Is actually quite good at the game, that he does care so genuinely about improving and will care so much about coaching his players.
also he has a full time well-paying job and a girlfriend and makes funny content and organizes mcsr events on top of being a diamond rank mcsr player. who else is doing it like president poundcake
