Okay so saw this on someone else's review and thought we should do another facts pool: POWER STRIPPING AND WITCHNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM EDITION
So I think the last time I did this it was about whitelighter memories so now let's address the premise of this season
1) witches are inherently magic so magic cannot be stripped but powers can.
I think they will throw out last season for most of this but for now we shall still use it for fact pool. Power binding last season seemed to work the same as power stripping this season. The girls were mostly safe from demons and not traceable until thier mother unbound them and they eventually came together and had thier powers turned on. But the girls without powers were still witches and magical just with no knowledge of how to tap into it since they had no idea about witches.
This season the same thing has happened the girls are stripped of thier powers but they still have magic (see 02x03 trailer for more clues) unlike before they knew they were witches, the girls know of magic and ways to use it outside of their personal powers.
2) witches are traceable and most likely traceable through thier powers
Mentioned above the girls pre-season 1 were safe because their powers were bound and inactive once they activated they became a beacon of trouble. From what Harry says 02x01, it seems that he was only able to orb to them when he sensed Macy use her powers. Meaning that it is possible that when the auras and powers were stripped so had his connection to them until Macy used thier powers. So that means powers are traceable. Magic may not be, but active powers seem to be.
3) the powers are recoverable. Showrunners have said they will eventually get them back. So the powerstripping is more like powerbinding it would seem.
4) Dark!Harry was able to locate them based on thier powers. What I mean to say is that before they were stripped he was able to locate them based on thier powers. He admitted as much to maggie when he said the portal must have stripped then to his them from him. so further clue that active powers have some sort of trace (Harry Potter reference but I think it fits). Even more so possible that, depending on what dark!harry is exactly, that demons share the ability to do this. Which is why the powers needed to be stripped in the first place.
Thanks @scousesal for this fact via one of the writers. That demons can trace powers since their powers come from the same source. So now it is confirmed
