Yugi had met many faces from his past in Koi from Domino City. In fact, he’s not very lonely anymore during his eventual stay in the city. Who else he might run into? It would be full of surprises but unless you’re Bakura or Malik, he’d stay in his lane thank you.

He kept gazing into his deck that rested on his hands. The duelist hadn’t dueled for a while, in fact-- he can get used to it. People were passing him by as he walked on Koi’s streets, thinking that he’s lucky that he ran into Atem and Ryou. Sometimes, he’d figured he could strike up a chat with them. 

Ryou and Yugi are room mates, so there’s no need to worry about being alone in the city. The boy paused and froze for a moment when he saw someone familiar within his vision and a shadow looming over him.

Yugi gaped at the familiarity. He was surprised to see him here too. He quickly kept his deck in his pocket.

“No way... Kaiba!?”

       It was not very often that entirely new set of cards was to be announced in rotation, but there was too be so many new additions that Pegasus being the flashy man that he is, decided to hold a sort of gala for the top duelists to come and observe the cards in action. Naturally, both he and his younger brother were invited to the event, given their titles and such. The idea of a sort of gathering itself was a bit tedious, but to see these new cards and meet potential competition and perhaps friends was exciting in itself.

        All ‘big name’ Duelists and their given fields of expertise were there to observe these new cards, most carrying their deck boxes around their waists in case any sort of dueling was to break out -- And given the amount of card crazy competitive men and women in the room, he did the same. Needless to say, if anyone was going to dare challenge him, he’d be prepared.

       His intention for the night however was to stick with Yugi, just there to observe this new set and maybe idle conversation, but he had other things to do that weren’t attend this and frankly if Yugi hadn’t be equally insistent he may not have come at all. The Pharaohs excitement on the whole event however shrunk as he realized that they would be organized through the show with assigned seating. Though, some sort of relief was found when it was based upon your ranking in a previous tournament that he had hosted so he was still next to Yugi.

        However, he was sandwiched between his brother and Seto Kaiba.

      Now, this was not something he particularly minded, finding an odd sort of ‘friendship’ and the fighting spirit in the competition of a challenging duel, but the other quite obviously did not feel the same way towards the brothers, however Yugi in particular. The urge to challenge the young CEO to a duel after this show of sorts was almost unstoppable as he saw the other move to begin to take his seat just as he was.

        “It would seem we are stuck together. How lucky.” There was the slightest trace of sarcasm laced into a deep voice.

There were few things that got Yugi excited as much as the current happening in town did, and surprisingly free hamburgers were a close second to this. As soon as he was able he took off and ran towards a certain destination, huffing and puffing as he did so. Just what was that destination?

One of the local game shops. It was tournament sign up day, and Yugi Muto wasn’t going to be late for that what so ever. 

The sign ups had only been open for about an hour or so, starting when the store opened, and the crowd was thankfully rather small. About 9 people. Even though he couldn’t see the registration desk behind all the people crowding around, he was sure he didn’t have to worry. He’d be signed up in a jiffy in no time at all, especially with how fast they were dealing with folks. 

The time came faster than he could even decide on whether or not it was worth getting out his handheld and trying to get through a level or two, let alone before he even got his gaming platform out. With a wide smile on his face and excitement shining in his eyes, the familiar faces smiled and gave Yugi a sheet. So that’s why they were getting to people so fast...! They were letting the players register themselves this time. Sure, he had to fill it out himself, but so long as it sped things up and made it easier, he didn’t mind one iota. 

Excitement and all at the challenge of a new tournament adventure being right in the palm of his hand, Yugi held the sheet up close to his face as he read the details out loud to himself, not looking ahead and ending up bumped straight into a stranger. 

“Oh--!” He quickly stepped back with a sheepish laugh and rubbed the back of his head as he looked up at the stranger. “Sorry about that, sir! I wasn’t watching where I was going... too focused on what I was reading!” 

After more sheepish laughs, he opened his eyes to see that... well.. the stranger he had ran into, obviously wasn’t a stranger at all. 

“...Kaiba!”

“What--? ... You’re here to sign up, too, aren’t you?” Why was he even surprised for a tiny moment? Of course Kaiba was signing up. What tournament did he not enter, especially once Yugi taking part gained a bit of gossip in the gaming community?
