After a bit of a delay, the OC makin’ train continues onward as well heard towards the tail end of this batch of PowerGEAR characters.
Say hello to Punky Ska Girl, Silva Paige! And yes, you read that right! A brand spankin’ new Girl character! It only took me forever to get another made! And if you’re wondering why I’m making a slight deal of this, it’s because my roster of OCs is mainly a sausage fest (21 Dudes currently released, 13 Gals counting ones that are WIP or yet to be designed), and I’ve really been meaning to more of the fairer sex.
Anywhos, back to Silva. I pretty much summed her up with the Punky Ska girl title. What else is there to say really? Well ok, two things.
One, she has her own Ska band, Rude Tribe, which she’s the lead vocalist for. She also has a love for crime dramas and detective nior stories, and being that this is PowerGEAR, she’s a street racer and drives with a gang that has the same name as her band.
Her car of choice is the 2001 Honda/Acura Integra Type R Series III [DC2]. It’s not the fastest machine nor the most tuned, but she’s able to keep her own against other racers.
Now if you happen to care about PowerGEAR’s story (which I doubt since I keep all details to myself), I’m putting this next bit under a read more.
So I’m completely jumping the gun because lord knows I’ll never get to that point, but Silva and the next two characters aren’t apart of the main PowerGEAR story line.
They’re apart of PowerGEAR: Sunday Drive, a side story centering on Tommy O’Malley, friend of Takeo and Darryl, getting into the world of Street Racing. If I ever get to the story, which I probably won’t, it’d be a short one. 5 Chapters tops I’m thinking?
Silva and the next character that will be posted actually don’t come into the story until it’s second and final half, but I though of them first so they get first posting.
And here comes the second to last of this PowerGEAR patch: Will Hearn, Guitarist for Rude Tribe, Silva’s current boyfriend, and antagonist for the second half of Sunday Drive (read Silva’s post for more info).
Will is a complicated guy. Like Silva, he LOVES Ska music, but that’s putting his passion for the genre lightly. Will LIVES Ska. Always dressing in nice suits (as evident by the lack of a casual outfit like for Silva), Skanking wherever and whenever possible, always blasting Ska from his 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R MkIII, or as he calls it, ‘The Skar’ (The Ska Car).
Will’s driving is very technical. Not much of a drifter, always preferring to break into corners are low speed, only to bust crazy speeds afterwards.
One would think he’s a bit of a loon, but he’s just eccentric is all, and is there anything wrong about being passionate about music? Though always dressing in suits is kinda bizarre, and has to be pretty expensive...
Just make sure if he asks you about Ska, you know the difference between Pop Punk and Ska. He’s very anal about that.
It’s been long enough, so here’s the next OC-based 8Tracks playlist. This time for the first three PowerGEAR characters: Takeo Minami, Darryl Watanabe, and Tommy O’Malley. Need I really say more? Ok, fine.
With this release, I’ve finally figured out a good formula for these kinds of playlists: 2 Songs per character.
One song that could easily pass as an Image Song (a song about the character or something to that effect), and one song that would be something they could drive to.
I’m also going to put out future ‘Battle Tunes’ playlists featuring music that would be played over a race if the story was an anime, like how Initial D always puts the Eurobeat soundtrack on a desperate CD release. That is when I actually get the damn story started.
Fun Fact: This cover was modeled after the cover for SEGA Touring Car Championship’s OST. I might do something similar for future Driver Tune covers, modeling them all after other Racing Game covers because why the heck not? Though the Battle Tunes will be most likely original.
Here come two more additions to the PowerGEAR Cast:
The Goh Brothers, Warren (top) and Nate (bottom), Leader and second-in-command of The North Gate Regulators, the premiere Street Racing club/gang/however you want to put it of North Gate and upper Paradiso, Densetsu Valley.
Warren’s a 21-year old College student studying Graphic Design and Art at North Gate University, while his 16-year old brother Nate is still in High School, trying to become a DJ.
They’re your essential, responsible brother/wildcard brother archetypes who’ll most likely end up being the Iketani and Kenji of PowerGEAR.
As for their cars of choice, Warren drives a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII, while Nate rides a 1992 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4. Proper car stats will come at a later time as I’m still learning how tuning and cars parts work in-relation to Horsepower, etc.
Now you may notice a slight bump down in quality on the faces in comparison to my last few characters (x, x). That’s because these two have been in the drafts for a lil’ bit before I started really going to town on detailing.
Granted they don’t look THAT bad, but Warren’s face looks a little...weird...I’’ probably go back a from now and add more detail to his face to make him look 21. Maybe some facial hair will do him some good...But yeah, more PowerGEAR characters, more normal peeps in my OC roster, hell yeah.
