Freaking out right now! DO YOU BELIEVE IN VISIONING? Goal-setting is a life skill. When I was writing my book I would put my manuscript on the shelf in Barnes and Noble as a dream board. Swipe to see how I took my book cover art on my laptop screen and held it up at B&N too to picture my future. ⁣ I totally forgot that I did this until yesterday on my birthday when I was reviewing my past goals and found these pictures! It was uncanny when I saw the manuscript next to Dave Ramsey because I knew I had a picture of it in real life! I went through my Instgram posts and sure enough...Dream came true in a totally specific way a few years later.⁣ ⁣ The Power of Starting Something Stupid actually came out in 2013 and hit the stores then. I did book signings around like at B&N and others. My kids would treasure hunt for my book in Costco, Walmart, Target, etc. Good times.⁣ it’s in like 10 languages now. 🙏🤗 This picture of my dream next to reality is freaking me out. So grateful! ⁣ Are you a believer in vision boards? In setting super specific goals? In picturing and even feeling your goals come true in the here and now as a way to create them in the future?⁣ ⁣ I know if you’re goals haven’t come true it feels better to set none at all. I also know that just because you have a dream doesn’t mean it will come true. I do know that if you have a dream, envision it coming true and practicing what it takes to make it happen...you’re more likely to succeed than watching reruns of Game of Thrones. Picture it. No one said you’re gonna win every time. Not unless you’re @djkhaled. This TED Talk only makes since in the context that I just gave my heart in a performance (my speeches are happy and intense) that left people both laughing and crying about 𝘓𝘌𝘈𝘕𝘐𝘕𝘎 𝘐𝘕𝘛𝘖 𝘚𝘛𝘜𝘗𝘐𝘋. I know I’m an idiot here. But that’s beside the point. I also gave that bottle of wine away to the crowd from the stage cause I don’t drink. The point is this: people don’t start because they are afraid of failure. Don’t look at projects and life and business as do it die. Look at it as one play in a long (but short) game. The game isn’t over if you miss the hoop. You just set up for the next one. Stop being scare of nothing. Your fear or nothing has left you doing nothing for years. It all starts with a tiny, stupid idea, then one thing leads to another, and suddenly, you find something amazing: yourself. You gotta make it a priority to make your priorities a priority. It’s so hot. 9pm. I will fly home tomorrow and get back before I even left. This is real. Time travel. 🙀 Just finished watching the nightly laser show at the HK harbor. Know this: If your stupid project becomes successful, it will likely become accepted, then considered smart, and then standardized, and eventually, normal. Whoops. Normal is where innovation goes to die. Normal isn’t new. People like “normal,” but they love “new.” Don’t get stale and crusty like a pb&j that you found behind your couch 2 years later after throwing it at your brother. You know? When they say “get a life” — it means get one. Get it. 5 yeas ago today. My kids holding my books for sale at Costco. This book changed everything in our lives. It’s amazing, even today (like this very day) people telling me how this book changes there life. One guy just told me he quit his job and is moving his family to South America or something. I’ll find it and share it later. This is me and @natalienorton in China at the top of the mountains ⛰ in Zhangjiajie Forest where they filmed the blue aliens of avatar. @jasebennett was disappointed because it was so foggy, but it cleared up enough later to get the most insane shots. @rachbennett and Nat even had these weird wrestling matches on the side of a cliff over a glass walkway where we could see thousands of feet down to our impending death. The Chinese freaked. Hahaha!!!!!! Hahhahaa! Good times! // Can I share something soooo real here? This changed my life and i didn’t even realize it the way I do now until YESTERDAY! CHANGE HOW YOU ARE PAID, CHANGE YOIR LIFE. Not how much you’re paid (though good), HOW you are paid makes all the difference regardless of millions or poverty. How and why you are paid undeniably dictates your life...where you live, how you spend your time, when and where.
