Call 1-855-637-4055 for our Psychic line as low as 66¢/min lyrics: Deep within each heart There lies a magic spark That lights the fire of our imagination And since the dawn of man The strength of just ‘I can’ Has brought together people of all nations There’s nothin’ ordinary in the living of each day There’s a special part everyone of us will play Feel the flame forever burn Teaching lessons we must learn To bring us closer to the power of the dream As the world gives us it’s best To stand apart from all the rest It is the power of the dream that brings us here Your mind will take you far the rest is just your heart you’ll find your fate is all your own creation And every boy and girl as they come into this world Bring the gift of hope and inspiration The world unites in hope and peace We pray that it will always be It is the power of the dream that brings us here There’s so much strength in all of us Every woman, child, and man It’s the moment that you think you can’t you’ll discover that you can The power of the dream Faith in things unseen Courage to embrace your fears No matter where you are To reach for your own star To realize the power of the dream To realize the power of the dream….. About Celine Dion: Céline Marie Claudette Dion, was born in 1968, the youngest of 14 children. Early in childhood, she sang with her siblings in a small club owned by her parents. From these early experiences, Celine Dion gained the know-how to performing live. At the age of 12, Dion composed a song in her native French and sent it to a record company, where it garnered the attention of René Angélil, a respected manager and her future husband. Angélil believed in Céline so much that he actually mortgaged his house in order to finance her debut album. Already very popular and successful internationally, Céline Dion burst onto the U.S. stage when she recorded the theme song to Disney’s hit Beauty and the Beast (1991). In 1990 she released the English-language album Unison, establishing herself as a viable pop artist in North America and other English-speaking areas of the world. Céline Dion‘s music has been influenced by genres ranging from rock and R&B to gospel and classical. Her main singing languages are French and English, but she also sings in Spanish, Italian, German, Latin, Japanese and Mandarine Chinese. While her releases have often received mixed critical reception, she is renowned for her technically skilled and powerful vocals. About Power of the Dream By Celine Dion: “The Power of the Dream” was written and produced by David Foster, Linda Thompson, and Babyface for the opening ceremonies of the 1996 Summer Olympics. Dion performed it in front of more than 100,000 people, in addition to over three and a half billion television viewers. She gave away the money she received for the occasion, to support Canadian athletes. Dion’s status on the world stage was further solidified when she was asked to perform “The Power of the Dream” at the opening ceremonies of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. About Other Songs By Celine Dion: “I’m Alive” is an uplifting midtempo song, where Celine Dion declares she is alive, fulfilled as a mother, and “in love.” It became a worldwide hit, hitting top 10 in many countries. It was certified platinum in Belgium (50,000) and gold in France (250,000). The album À l’Olympia (meaning At the Olympia) was recorded on September 28 and 29, 1994, during two sold-out concerts at the Paris Olympia. Among songs from singer’s previous French album Dion chante Plamondon, Céline Dion performed also “Calling You,” (Academy Award nominated song from Bagdad Café), “Quand on n’a que l’amour” (originally by Jacques Brel), and a medley of songs from the Starmania musical, including two songs unavailable on Dion previous releases. 2.9.13 - "Power of the Dream" by Celine Dion
For those of you who know me well, you'll know that my music tastes are fairly consistent, with one exception. I love Celine Dion. She doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the singer/songwriters that I usually listen to, but after she sang "Beauty and the Beast" in 1991, I was a fan. Today's song and memory also goes back to the 90's in celebration of my High School friend Natalie Grillo who is celebrating her birthday today.
In the media age, there are so many instances of a person saying something once and then being haunted by it the rest of their lives. In fact, my favorite youtube clips are of news bloopers or interviews (Sweet Brown anyone?) that live on and on. For my friend Natalie, this moment was one brief conversation in High School where someone asked her when her birthday was. Not knowing the lasting impact of her answer, Natalie replied February....<Insert a pause and a flip of her hair here>....9th. While in writing it doesn't come across, the hair flip and the pause gave a great dramatic effect, and every started to mimic that for Natalie. When I say everyone, it may have just been me...but I think there were others. (Back me up Natalie) At any rate, throughout the rest of our time at school I would always joke about it...but in the end, the nice part is that I've never forgotten her birthday to this day....maybe the hair flip was on purpose:)
During hight school, both Natalie and I were inducted into the Nation Honor Society, and for our Senior year, we were invited to perform, as seniors, at that year's induction. Our senior year fell right after the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, and so we chose Celine's "Power of the Dream" which was the theme for the games and, we felt, also expressed the hope and dreams of those entering the Honor Society. I played the piano and Natalie sang the song...which was a perfect moment.
Deep within each heart There lies a magic spark That lights the fire of our imagination And since the dawn of man The strength of just "I can" Has brought together people of all nations There's nothing ordinary In the living of each day There's a special part Every one of us will play Feel the flame forever burn Teaching lessons we must learn To bring us closer to the power of the dream
To this day, I can't help think of Natalie when I hear this song, even though I haven't seen her in over 15 years. (craziness....thank goodness for Facebook!) Happy Birthday Natalie...may it be the best February........9th yet!

Power Of The Dream by Celine Dion
I still maintain that this song should be used for ALL Olympics - cause lyrically it's THAT good. Oh, and say what you want about "Da Greatest Singah in Da Werrrrld" - but she knocked this performance (at the Atlanta Opening Ceremonies) completely outta the park. Audio above - video below. Enjoy!
