How to Create a Web Design using PowerPoint?
Did you know PowerPoint can also be used for creating web designs? It is a versatile software which has a number of utilities. Although it is commonly used for making slide-show presentations, its efficiency as a website designer cannot be ignored. A web design includes everything related to visuals, display buttons and gesture controls of the web page. Using PowerPoint you can prototype both types of web designs, namely, ui web design and ux web design. UI (User Interface) web design deals with the look and feel of the website (like colour, design, typography etc), whereas UX (User Experience) web design is concerned with how the user perceives it. Both act as a complement to the other. Given below are some tips that can help one in employing PowerPoint’s powers to build amazing web designs:
The process of creating a web design is similar to that of creating a presentation. Start by framing the blueprint of the slide. Think of the overview of the web page and outline the structure according to that. Outlining basically means deciding how to align and arrange the icons in an appealing manner. PowerPoint offers many features to assist you in this. If you are not a master in creating well-organized powerpoint presentations then you should take powerpoint training. There are many powerpoint training courses available that teach how to use its advanced features.
2. Select an Eye-catching Banner
The first thing that a user notices on the web page is its header. In PowerPoint, there are a number of options that allow one to choose (or create) a fascinating image which features on the top of the website. Graphic illustrations are the most important aspects of a ui web design. So, in order to make the relationship between the user and the visual elements of the website interactive, it is vital to choose visually stimulating pictures. PowerPoint suggests images and also provides ideas to create relevant images. Besides, the logo and even videos are part of the banner. They briefly explain what the website is all about.
The next step is to add website content. The icons like Home, About Us, Blog and others contain valuable content of the website. To add these icons, go to the Insert option in the PowerPoint. Write the menu text and choose font, colour and effect of your choice. These options are usually added in the navigation bar in the form of clusters.
4. Add hyperlinks to the Buttons
After you have finished designing and layering the slides, it is time to add hyperlinks to the buttons. Hyperlinks are the links which get activated when you click on a button or an icon. For example, whenever you touch any “Click Here” button, it opens the text or image contained in it on the same web page or another web page. The link which takes you to that referred image or text is hyperlink. In PowerPoint, you can add hyperlinks by opening the Insert option from the menu bar. Go to the Hyperlink icon and select Insert Hyperlink option. Select the web page you want to add it to. Then click on “Place in this Document” option.
5. Save your Presentation as a Web Page
To create a web page, nothing exceptional has to be done. First you make a presentation whose slides are designed in the form of web pages. Lastly, you save this presentation as a web page. Open the File menu. Click on the Save As dialogue box and select Web Page from the Save as Type option.
