An Important Conversation

Amaya had to admit, though she had been reluctant to come visit Zambesi because of her fear that she wouldn’t want to leave, she immensely enjoyed doing so. It didn’t make her forget about their mission, and it definitely helped with her homesickness.

Now, however, they weren’t here just to spend time with her family. They were here to talk to her mom about marriage customs for the holder of the Vixen mantle.

Imani smiled when she saw them coming and invited them inside the hut.

Macintire was escorting Mina home from dinner with friends. A chilled air had settled over the city, the warmer river mixing with the lower temperature and a fog had begun to develop. His vision was affected as much as any human, but the humidity actually kept scents closer to the ground and his sense of smell was working to compensate. As Mina suddenly stopped, the werewolf froze, detecting something odd ahead. "What is that?" he softly asked.

Mina felt exceptionally safe with Macintire, especially knowing the truth about what he was. As expected, when she told Jonathan what he was, and that he meant them no harm-but had in fact offered them his protection-he’d been shocked but had given him permission to stay. They were walking back from a nice dinner in the chilly but otherwise nice evening air. Although, the fog made her extremely nervous, and she pressed a little closer to Macintire as it crept in. “What is what?” She asked just as softly, unable to see anything past the fog. Her grip on his arm tightened slightly.

Something had felt wrong from the moment she had walked into the bar. Though she wouldn’t show that she had noticed, the fleeting glances and shift in atmosphere was very telling.

“Listen, don’t look now, but there’s about four or five guys who are packin’ and something tells me they’re not gonna let us leave without some kind of fight.”

"I came to ask you questions once,” Reminiscent as if she expected him to forget, but the memory, for her, at least brought a smile to her face. Though seemingly pleased, she’d keep her distance, left hand hovering over some bottles, offering but not stating. “But you’re out on your own volition now, and I wonder what it is you’re here for.”

Wolfe randomly finds that tricorn one day and puts it on.

Amaya smiled fondly seeing him wear it. “That’s a good look on you.” She said warmly. “Fun fact, the outfit that goes with that hat, and the hat itself, is one of my favourites.”

In a plain brown wrapping tied off with a bow of silk ribbon is a long scarf of hand dyed with striped patterns of brown and black with triangles and dots of gold paint in a geometric pattern. A note reads: Happy birthday, my sunshine and warmth. Love, Wolfe."

Amaya stopped in the doorway seeing the plainly wrapped parcel on the bed. Walking over, she picked up the note to read it, smiling softly. Then she set the note down gently and delicately unwrapped the parcel. A soft gasp escaped her as her fingers traced lightly over the scarf. Picking it up, she lifted her hair and draped it around her neck, looking in the mirror. It looked perfect on her. “Gideon, can you tell me where Wolfe is right now?” She asked. She wanted him to see how the scarf looked. When the AI did, she went to find him.

Holding the little girl’s hand in almost a vice like grip, due to the fact that the child was a ‘runner’, Ariel hums softly as she looks through the many shops surrounding them,

“Hey, Luna, do you waaant...” the angel trails off, getting the girls attention, “to get ice cream?” The young girl looks up at her, grinning and nodding, “Yes mama!”

Ariel gently squeezes her hand as the two of them stroll down the street when Luna suddenly stops, sniffing the air. “Lu?” Ariel asks, looking down at her. Luna quickly tugs her hand out of her mother’s and dashes down the street and around the corner, Ariel attempting to follow her, bumping into people on the busy street, “Luna get back here!!”
