Get to Know Your Racers, #1: Team Daft Junk
Hello, and welcome to a new feature here at PPPRS: The Blog, Get to Know Your Racers! In the week before a Maker Faire race, we'll be showcasing the teams that are participating in that race so that you can get a sense of who they are, what they like, and whether or not you should give them Moxie. Since we only have ONE WEEK LEFT!!!!!! until the first race of the season, we thought this would be a fantastic time to tell you a little more about some of our newest teams, collectively called The West Coasters.
First up is a husband-wife duo from The Biggest Little City, Reno. Although this is their first year racing electric vehicles, they're not new to the Maker scene -- with a background in robot combat competitions and drone piloting, you can be sure they are coming with some... interesting skills. In fact, just hearing about their car makes us salivate at the possible hilariousness of Team Daft Punk: they welded the frame together with old swing set poles and installed a wheelchair gear motor drive wheel in the back of their vehicle. They even wrote a poem about it. Would you like to hear it? Of course you would.
*clears throat*
Daft Junk, a poem:
Krylon red and striped in black, Surplus motor set in back. Swingset frame, welded strong, Three wheeled ride - what could go wrong?
What a great team! We the organizers are really looking forward to getting to watch them duke it out on the track next weekend with teams from all over the west coast. See you in a week, Team Daft Junk! *bwahahahaha*
