Naeun grew up with the parties, dances, and balls of high society. Hogwarts was no Upper East New York, but the news of the Masquerade Ball had the girl immediately writing her mother for the dress and shoes that the woman had often insisted on having her bring to Hogwarts “just in case.” It was with those things that she entered the lavishly decorated Great Hall. Immediately, she was in her element, with her head held high, eyes bright under the mask, and a smile on her lips, as she walked to the equally lavish table of food.

Okay, so yes, Naeun likes dressing up once in a while, but she was the type to simply watch a party as it happened for a little while, sometimes waving at familiar faces and making small talk but still somewhere off to the side. As Myungsoo seemed nowhere to be found (yet), she entertained herself with a small plate of food and swayed to the music as she tried figuring out who was who under their masks. Her back against the wall started hurting after a while and she didn’t pretty herself up for nothing; as a faster paced song came on, she found herself setting her plate aside and walking towards the dance floor.

one step closer / rtf & sne

Her cheeks were warm. Hot, even, despite the winter winds that had managed to sneak into the castle and forced everyone into their scarves and jumpers. There was only one reason for the color of her cheeks to rival the banners of Gryffindor and that was her stupid schoolgirl crush. As soon as she'd realized it, she'd instantly deemed it foolish but still sighed when the professor--he wasn't too good at being one either, she'd thought to herself many times--walked past her during History of Magic.

Stupid, stupid! she chided herself, running up the steps of the Great Hall. She repeated the words in her head like a mantra, pausing only to take calming breaths as she stood at the door to his classroom; hopefully, everyone was still at dinner and no one would see her. Hesitating, she held her hand in fist over the wood longer than she'd want to admit, willing herself to calm down. Feeling the warmth in her cheeks subside (although, ever so slightly) she knocked her knuckles against the wood in three dull thumps. "Professor," she said. "It's me."
