Create a GIF - Mini Brief

Today’s brief was all about motion graphics. The only requirement was to make a brief about a feeling that we experience. I always liked web comics and the really simplistic, dumb approach that some of them take. Therefore, I thought that I should to a similar thing, kind of a badly-drawn-style of a stickman. I immediately put my thoughts on a storyboard to make sure I don’t lose them, and started to create the panels in Illustrator.

The illustrating process wasn’t hard but it was pretty annoying since i had to do it with a touchpad (left my tablet at home). So i had over 100 paths for each frame. 

After drawing each one of them, there wasn’t much to do but put them up in Photoshop to assemble that GIF. 

This mini brief was fun because I’ve done gifs before, and because I made such a stupid-doodlish one that people actually enjoyed.

Advertisement for festival: I went around taking pictures of build boards, my university lecture theatre, signs, vehicles, whatever I could find to advertise my festival on and as you can see above I started editing roughly, didn’t go into full detail on editing because it was quickly done, but looks alright. I think anyway...ok some look better then others, but like I said roughly, quickly done it. Thats’s my excuse.

I wanted to show people what my festival would be like, the vibe/atmosphere of it, so I found this photo on the internet of people enjoying themselves at a festival (apart from the two in the bottom right, they look like they don’t want to be there) then I started adding my own details to it, for my ‘Silent-Sphere’ festival.

Festival Poster Research - Throughout the project I’ve been looking at other festival posters, logo designs, the identity and imagery of some and here are ones I’ve chosen that I could relate to my logo design with the sphere in the middle of the poster.

I quickly made a mood board out of other images from festivals and clubs I found, then just put them together. It's for my festival to show the target audience I'm aiming at and the kind of atmosphere I want my festival to be like, it'll be a happy, chilled party vibe. Also written out what age limit and other targets I should be looking at for my festival.

Typography and Design development: This was the start of my design development for my festival, pick the name, so I was writing out different typography designs and looking up some on 1001fonts website, which was really helpful to look at and I'll be using that website more throughout the project.

Also I'm now generating some designs for my logo of different layouts, form, composition, size and more, so I can rule out all the possibilities that I could make with the designs I make.

Kate Moross task: Small task we had to do for a one day brief was create a Kate Moross style of illustrations with our own words and draw them out in 10 or 15 seconds as quickly and detailed as possible. It was a fun task to do and came up with some good ideas for mine, I think any way, as well others had great designs to.

I looked at more of her work after and find more really interesting work she has made, love her work that she's done and her style is really effective to use, will have to see If I can add it to my designs or in the project some how.
