@praemicavi liked this post for a starter! How many rats had she snatched from the alley between the buildings which were so impossibly tall? Ten? Fifteen? Twenty? Didn’t matter; they did nothing to stave her appetite, and only barely kept her alive. Pathetic, dressed in dirty white rags that were once a pretty dress, Mary moved along. As if the light would kill her, she clung tightly to the shadows, away from the people who passed. Most didn’t notice her, but when she felt the pressure of eyes, she cried and ran back into the alleyways, which humans seemed to avoid. Technology screamed at her from every which way. Beeping and honking and constant noise followed throughout the city. It’d been peace in the woods. Quiet there. It might’ve been okay to starve there. Mary crouched behind a dumpster, her precious blood crawling out of her eyes and down her cheeks. Anything would’ve been better than trying to survive in a world that held no love and no hope for a vampire as removed from the modern world as she.
