Evocative Line :Lover's Discourse Poetry Slam "What I Love About You / Plastic Barbie Doll" - Kassy Horan
The line I chose as evocative is the line "I can be a plastic barbie doll" ( Yes I now someone already did this line). This line to me defines the modern idea of love for some people. People of the younger generations don's seem to grasp the concept of love and instead turn it into something social, plastic and synthetic. The idea of love begins to transcend into public serenades, gifts, and Facebook status updates. This has occured as the popular culture has begun to take over the trends and fads and all that good stuff to turn love into a joke. Love should be personal and intimate not publicly holding hands walking circles through the hallways repeatedly. The whole idea of Valentines seems artificial to me as well, in a relationship, you should know the person well enough to not have to get the usual bouquet of roses and a dinner and instead give them tokens of appreciation or something that you shared together, after all Valentines is about relationships not about 2 people and the things they spend money on.
