Whoever falls in love first... loses. BAD BUDDY (2021), dir. Backaof Noppharnach
Okay but Korn and Pran hated each other at the beginning. And Korn just so easily inserted himself into Pran and Pats boyfriend life like??? I’m in love with this possibly new friendship between Pran and Korn.
you know what i am so damn thankful that ink is around. pat is likely about to go through a lot of turmoil as he is exploring his relationship with pran. his parents and his so-called friends are definitely not gonna be of any help. in fact, they would be the problems.
at least, he has ink to be able to rant to and understand his feelings. hopefully, pa will be there for him too.
If Pat gave up
This is something that i have been wondering for a while now.
Pran constantly shoos Pat away. I'm rewatching the series and I just got to the scene in ep 4 when, after catching Pat and Ink having dinner, Pat goes to Pran's door and gives him some leftover food. Pat then notices Pran's hurt shoulder and asks —genuinely worried— what's wrong, to what Pran answers "None of your business."
And I always get thinking, what if in one of those Pat just had enough and said "You know what, you're right, none of my business, i'm sorry to have bothered you with my friendship, goodbye" and stopped trying to get closer to Pran (which I know he wouldn't do, but I won't get deep into this cause the focus of my analysis is Pran).
So imagine Pat gives up. Imagine he stops trying to get closer to Pran. Would Pran be happy?
Pran has had a crush on Pat since high school and that's precisely the reason why he shoos Pat away. He's scared. Imagine having your crush so near you, and seemingly so close to you, but "knowing" there is 0 chance of things working out. Because that's what it seems like to Pran at that moment. Because:
1. Pran thinks Pat is straight; and 2. They're in the middle of the feud between the two groups, and Pran vents to Wai about how terrible it is to be forced to live a hidden relationship, so he was already anticipating that before their relationship began.
So Pran's instinct is to push him away, because doing so, he is actually acting on himself and telling himself he cannot give himself the luxury of thinking this might work out. He is constantly trying to prevent his love for Pat from growing. When he pushes Pat away, he is actually holding himself back and pushing himself away from Pat.
Now back to the initial question: What if Pat did give up?
Imagine how torn Pran would feel? That would be when he would realize that all that effort for pushing Pran away and pushing himself back away from Pran and trying to prevent his feelings from evolving, all that was in vain, it was for nothing. That's when he'd realise that there is no remedy for it.
And that's when he'd wish Pat hadn't given up, because having Pran trying and trying (even if he was invasive at times, like entering his dormroom uninvited) was what made him feel grateful he didn't need to be the one to try.
And maybe he would have the courage to go to Pat and call him back or maybe he wouldn't.
So thank you, Pat. Thank you for never giving up.
