In March 2016, at the invitation of Are, KASSANDRAS’ founders, Anne Davidian and Matthieu Prat gave lectures and led workshops with the students of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design (UMPRUM) of Prague and the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Brno.
The talks introduced the KASSANDRAS’ method focused on praxis and tools offered to practitioners. The series of workshops with students proposed to experiment with design and architectural strategies applied to an unfinished skeleton building. The students were invited to transform our rooftop terrace into a social playground for local communities and KASSANDRAS’ guests.
The aim of the process was to develop a workshop format that can double as a laboratory for architectural, artistic and social research.
Damn Son Where Did You Find This?
A Book about Hiphop Mixtape Cover Art
By Tobias Hansson, Michael Thorsby
Published by Koenig Books, 2016
Damn Son Where Did You Find This? is the first book ever to focus on the cover art of the modern US hip hop CD mixtape. From the bootleg recordings of Kool Herc in the 1970s to Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and Drake’s latest opus, CD mixtapes have been and continue to be an essential part of hip hop culture. A visual world that reached unseen levels at the turn of the millennium, uncensored, unregulated and extreme, it is the most anarchic of all genres of graphic design.

KASSANDRAS, Athens I Co-Founder
An experimentation ground for contemporary practices , KASSANDRAS is a hydrid space where thinking and making can bind in one movement. It was initiated in 2016 by Matthieu Prat (DIPLOMATES) and Anne Davidian (PRAXIS MATTERS).
Situated in the neighborhood of Votanikos, KASSANDRAS is a six floor un-finished building, fully operational design studio and construction workshop, a versatile space for (test) exhibitions, live events and social gatherings, and a production team of local talents.
We facilitate encounters between creative practitioners, local and international, encourage an exchange of competences and transdisciplinary collaborations, while offering our support throughout the process.
