Well that escalated quickly! So I got to my clinic appointment at dialysis for a lab draw and could barely make it to the elevator. I was lightheaded, short of breath, and my heart was racing...basically felt like I was going to pass out. They get me into a chair and check my vitals...my blood pressure was 100/60 but my heart rate was 125 and my oxygen saturation was at 71% (hence the oxygen). After sitting for about an hour, drinking some broth, and some oxygen everything but my heart rate returned to normal. Heart disease is the most common cause of death in kidney patients, not their actual kidney failure. The kidneys work to maintain fluid and nutrient balance in the body in addition to the part they play in red blood cell production. When the kidneys don't work, everything we take in just stays in our bodies because we aren't making urine to remove the extra fluid and toxins. As you can imagine this puts a HUGE strain on ones heart. I'm already scheduled for a plethora of heart tests for my transplant workup at the Cleveland Clinic however, if there should be anything wrong with my heart that will get me pulled off the waitlist. So all that said I'm aaking for prayers y'all. Pray that whatever this is resolves itself just as quickly as its onset. Thanks everyone...I love and appreciate you all! ❤ #DialysisLife #NoBueno #PrayersAppreciated #MelNeedsAKidney (at Davita Home Dialysis) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrEF9Wnnwj-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=kl72o8stpxrd
