Pray for Lafayette
Praise be to the Goddess! May she raise up my fallen sisters and that she watch over the wounded, I pray for Lafayette.
Goddess bless the mothers, who must now bury what they brought forth in pain and blood. I pray for Lafayette.
Goddess bless the families, blood and water, who fill the beds of the Teche and the Vermilion with tears. I pray for Lafayette.
Goddess bless the city, who beats PVC into angel’s wings to purge evil and embrace the mourners. I pray for Lafayette.
Goddess bless the churches, opening their doors and lighting their candles and praying this is the last time. I pray for Lafayette.
Goddess bless the teacher who took a bullet and pulled a fire alarm and saved so many lives. Goddess bless her. I pray for Lafayette.
Goddess bless the first responders– take the blood from their eyes and their dreams and grant them peace and rest. Glory be to the dutiful. I pray for Lafayette.
Goddess bless the bricks which bloom flowers and candles and words and tears as the whole city remembers. And remembers. I pray for Lafayette.
Goddess bless the sacred spaces of women, protect us as we make our way through the fires of men who hate our ease and freedom. I pray for Lafayette.
Goddess bless us all, the children of the fleur de lis, the rebel branded, the inquiet, the ones who laugh as bold as the sun and love each other with food and festivals. I pray for Lafayette.
Bless us Goddess, the ones who cry in French, bless us with some peace, a good harvest, les bons temps and someone we love to spend them with. I pray for Lafayette.
PSA
if someone who lives in Lafayette tells you to please stop bringing up politics then when talking about the theatre shooting, then please fucking stop bringing up politics when talking about the theatre shooting. it really takes the focus away from the victims, and right now we need to focus on showing support for their families. this only happened two days ago and its still a huge shock to our community. now really isn't the time to bring up your views on gun laws or racism, now is the time to send good vibes and prayers to the families of Jillian Johnson and Mayci Breaux.
My heart hurts for everyone affected by the shooting in Lafayette. You never think something like this would happen in your state, your home town, surrounding cities. It definitely hits close to home, especially since my oldest brother and sister in law live in Lafayette, not too far from the theatre. I can't even imagine what the families are going through but it's so awesome seeing the community come together for them. & hopefully the idiots of WBC do not show up and let the families mourn in peace.
i’ll never understand how some people believe the answer to mass shootings is to arm more people with guns.
yall pray for my city out here. it’s scary to see how something like this can happen so suddenly. prayers going out to the families that lost loved ones shouldnt happen so often. we shouldnt have to worry about them losing family. this shit just needs to stop.
You always think 'never in my city' but, seriously, never imagined something like this to happen in Lafayette. This place is my hometown and a place I've called home for almost 21 years. My heart is broken. Prayers for the victims and their families/friends.
