How had the night barely begun and she’d already lost her date? Despite Théo’s promise that he wouldn’t be gone long, Sofie was already bored and on edge. She’d yet to actually glimpse any of the Russian contingent, but based on how many awards Viktoriya Kurylenko was nominated for, she had no doubt that they were around. “So, who wants to start a drinking game with me during the ceremony? I want to be completely drunk by the end of the ceremony.” At least drinking would calm down the sea currently raging in the pit of her stomach.

This was new. 

Stepping out of the car with lights flashing in from every direction would have taken the most veteran of London’s upper class by surprise. It took her a moment lips opening before she found that blush climbing up the side of her face. For a moment she was lost, trying to get her dress straight until she huffed in a breath and really looked at her surroundings. 

Jaw slackened with amazement. 

Everyone looked fantastic and everyone --- she’d never seen anything like it before in her life. It was like being thrown into a whirl wind of colour, turning on the spot like a child lost in an amuesment park, eyes alight with something new. It lasted for just a moment, when anxiety wasn’t creeping in and she was like a little girl who’d been shown the wonders of the world for the first time. 

‘’This is --- wow.’’ Words evaded her, for a writer she was searching for something, a specific word and as she racked her brains, the thought came causing her to click her fingers.  ‘‘Phenomenal’’
