Harry spends some time with Hermione's family the summer before fourth year and Hermione's parents introduce him to ballroom dancing. It turns out that Harry really enjoys swing dancing. Though Hermione doesn't enjoy it as much, she practices with Harry just because she doesn't like seeing him laughing with and smiling at her mother. When the Yule Ball arrives, there's no question in Harry's mind that he wants to ask his dance partner.
