Preachy vegan
“Don’t make me feel bad about what I eat.” I’ve come across this argument a lot in the last few days and I’d like to clear a few things up. So if you have a problem with vegans being pushy, this is for you.
I don’t share things to piss people off. I share them in the hopes that someone will see them and make the connection like I did. I keep hearing people say “Don’t make me feel bad about what I eat.” and there are a number of problems with that. First of all, no one can make you feel bad about it except your own conscience. If you feel guilty looking at slaughter images then you need to ask yourself why. Second, the point of distinction vegans make is that it’s not “what” you’re eating, it’s “who”. By actively advocating for silencing vegans, you’re fighting for the continued abhorrent treatment of the animals who are raised for food. You’re arguing in favor of cruelty and death. The difference between vegan and non-vegan “propaganda” is that advocating for veganism is literally advocating to stop unnecessary killing to the best of our ability. To actively fight for anything else is to fight for your right to pay someone to brutally torture and kill another living being and that’s the problem we have. It’s not a matter of trying to take away people’s choice in what they eat. It’s about trying to get others to connect that bacon on their plate with the pig who was gassed to death so that you could eat him. And that’s not even considering the environmental and health problems associated with eating meat and animal products. So yes, it’s your choice who you eat. No one is trying to take away anyone’s free will here. But for so many reasons, I want desperately for people to see that there are so many broader implications to the food you choose to eat.
When I see ignorant people posting about "preachy vegans" forcing their views onto others, all I can do is laugh because they are complete contradictions to their own point. You literally force others to die for your own beliefs. If that isn't forcing your views on others, I don't know what is! 🌱💚🌍 #vegan #govegan #plantbased #otherbeingsarenotyourproperty #preachyvegan #veganfortheanimals #veganformyhealth #veganfortheplanet #veganforlife
I didn't bring it up but apparently I'm shoving my "opinion" (i.e facts) down their throats.
Being asked why you are vegan only to be told vegans are "preachy" in the same breath.
