lmao i was just spinning on the (as far as i know) original intent of the pun/accurate observation in the post which was

defining ‘predate’ as meaning both ‘come before you’ and ‘come after you’ because, as i said, that sounds like it’s its own antonym

but in fact the joke is that ‘predate’ as a synonym for ‘antedate’ which means ‘to happen/exist earlier’ has no relation to ‘predate’ as in ‘prey upon.’ coming after in the sense of hunting. that was the joke.

that’s what’s sinister. the being hunted. i thought i was funny.
