Sarii and Naru in PREY (2022) dir. Dan Trachtenberg
Feral Predator by @ChrisDiBari
Some facts about this particular breed of yautja, by the artist who conceived it (@MV_Creatures):
Genetic isolation with different environmental pressures yields a variant of yautja… adapted to a drier climate… thinner, waxier dreads, thicker oral tissue, & scalier skin for moisture retention, favors crushing bite for different diet…
Breathes primarily through spiracles in the casque (not those 2 big cavities, those are heat sensitive “pits”!), an adaptation for a less jungly, less oxygenated atmosphere…
Thicker brow houses heat sensitive organs, which the mask is designed to interface with… thinner casque loses less water…
Bone has a special cultural significance to the Feral subspecies… not only their armor but as a diet staple… a careful look at the mouth reveals molars outfitted for osteophagy…
And here's a little bonus
I was asked to do a pass on an evolutionary predecessor to Yautja… the final design isn’t that, but it was a fun exploration though I don’t think it worked… we spoke of time dilation playing a factor… 300 years distance could be any number of millennia to spacefaring creatures
Fanfiction writers and artists waiting for the movie so they can have the essential materials to make one shots/stories and artwork about the new predator:
Edit: Y'know, I had to add the artists
I really hope people will support Predator 5 (Prey 2022). It is starring indigenous first nations (played entirely by actual indigenous folks it seems.)
Dear gifmakers and fanartists, please treat this movie like you do with other monster movies. First nations do not often get that level of representation in the mainstream movies line ups. Online creators tend to be the life of diverse stories. It feels like it is worth checking out, hopefully it will be a good movie. It comes out August 5th apparently.
(To the people who think it won't be good and to the people who want to respond to this after it is released : Don't bother responding to this. I just don't care. I make this post to bring awareness because it feels important, not to hear opinions or essays.)
I finished watching Prey and I want to ask something
I'm the only one that thinks Feral is kinda stupid? Like, I really liked his looks and all, but it as really necessary to get invisible all the time? Even when he was fighting his preys, he keep the invisibility on and when Naru and her brother was fighting him, he get invisible just to attack Naru's brother from behind. I understand him for keeping the invisibility on when needs to be stealthy or hide, but he got invisible in the middle of a fight just to scape from probably losing! And he didn't even turn the invisibility off when he was fighting the others Comanche (if I remember well). I thought that was the way he fights but when he found the invaders, he didn't keep the invisibility on.
I didn't watched the other predator movies, so I don't know if that's normal and, to be honest, I don't care, i personally think this is cowardice, like if you want to fight, then show yourself!
That's it, I just need to know if I'm the only one who thinks that way
Producers: "New Predator movie with FEMALE protagonist!"
Me: "Yeah, I kinda don't care about that last bit... How much screen time does the yautja get?"
Producers: "...about 15 minutes???"
Me:
they/them Predator my beloved
