T. rex Madness Round 2: Prehysteria! (Elvis) vs. Prehistoric Planet (Flirt Man)

Prehysteria! (Elvis) – Debuting the same year as Jurassic Park, Prehysteria! asks the important question: what if dinosaurs were tiny and cute and could live in your house? For the real answer, you can look at pet birds, but either way, wacky shenanigans will ensue. Elvis is a miniature T. rex, part of a group of eggs accidentally obtained by an ordinary family. Each hatches into a different dinosaur (or pterosaur) and is named after a famous musician. The T. rex, naturally, is named Elvis because he was the king. These are fun, silly movies and the stop-motion animation is a welcome sight in the world of endless CGI.

Prehistoric Planet (Flirt Man) – Standing in contrast with Hank, and having no commonly used fan-nickname, Flirt Man is an older, single T. rex just minding his own business, cleaning his wounds after a narrow victory over a Triceratops, when a female of his kind appears on the scene. Prehistoric Planet excels at showing varied behaviors and avoiding unnecessary dino fights, and this scene is no exception. Rather than coming to blows, the older male presents his neck and courts the female instead and, based on his impressive battle scars, she accepts his offer. Thus, a new generation of T. rexes will be born. No doubt, Flirt Man will have his own adventures in fatherhood in the months to come.

Prehysteria 2 will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on April 5 via Full Moon Features. The 1994 direct-to-video family fantasy sequel to 1993's Prehysteria is executive produced by Charles Band (Puppet Master, Ghoulies).

Albert Band (Ghoulies II, I Bury the Living) directs from a script by Michael Davis (Shoot 'Em Up) and Brent V. Friedman (Mortal Kombat: Annihilation). Kevin Connors, Jennifer Harte, Dean Scofield, Bettye Ackerman, Larry Hankin, Alan Palo, Greg Lewis, Michael Hagiwara, and Owen Bush star.

When the Taylor family goes away on vacation, they put their tribe of diminutive dinosaurs - Elvis, Paula, Jagger, Hammer and Madonna - under the care of the kindly Mr. Cranston. But the creatures escape and wind up being shipped across the country, where they're discovered by a young girl named Naomi and a lonely rich kid named Brendon. Soon, the heroic dinos are called into action to help Naomi save Brendan from his cruel governess who not only hates all animals but aims to send the boy away to a military school so she can take control of the household.
