William’s first field trip
William’s first field trip was on Wednesday and I got to go with him because one of the parents pulled out. I got to hangout and see what their circle time is like because we weren’t scheduled to leave until 8:45 am. They sang a lot of songs and went over their days of the week, color of the week, letter of the week, number of the week, and I’m sure there was something else that I can’t remember. They also read a book that I’ve seen online before and I didn’t think much of it but when they read it I loved it and now I want it haha. Since William’s preschool is at a high school there are high schoolers that are each childs buddy. This means they stick with the kids during events like the homecoming assembly or field trips. Before we got on the bus all the high schoolers were supposed to find their preschooler and put a lanyard on them that had the schools contact information on it. William’s buddy wasn’t there yet which I didn’t mind since I was there with him.
We all got on the bus and his buddy showed up. Apparently his dad had stopped at a store before dropping him off at school. Once William’s buddy (his name is Roy by the way so I can stop saying William’s buddy haha) got on the bus William wanted to go sit with him but he had gone to the back of the bus so I told William he could sit with him on the way back. We went to a farm and they had so much stuff to do for all the kids!
As soon as we got there William went to Roy and Roy also apologized for being late. Everyone got to grab a plastic bag and write their names on it then we got to go pick some veggies. The kids got to pick a zucchini, cucumber, and some radishes. The lady that was taking us on our tour told the kids how the stuff grows and it was really interesting. After that we went into the maze and they had a little makeshift classroom in there for the kids to learn about corn then we got to go through the maze. Next we all walked by the animals and headed to the train ride. William and Roy rode in one little train cart thing. It was basically barrels being pulled by a quad haha. I have a picture of them siting in the barrel. After that the kids got to go jump on this like makeshift trampoline. It was really big and the kids loved it. After that we really got to do whatever we wanted. We went to see the animals and I got some feed for William to feet the goats. There was a stingy ass goat there. There were some mini horses there and I tried to feed all of them cause I’m nice and like to be fair haha. There was a thing there where the kids can play in the corn and William loved that. Roy got in there with the kids and they started burrowing William in the corn. I have a picture of that too haha. We had lunch after that and of course William ate my sandwich instead of his.
After lunch I really kind of left William and Roy to do their own thing. I sat with the directors/teachers for Williams preschool and talked to them. One of them was my child development teacher when I was in high school so we caught up a little. I was in her class when I was pregnant with William and after. I also ended up talking to them about the adoption and baby girl. I’m trying to kind of be ok about talking about it openly so I decided to just jump in. After talking my old teacher asked if I would talk to her class about adoption and I said sure.
After the intense talk I decided to find William and Roy. It was almost time to go so when I found them we went to pick out our pumpkins. William was not happy that we had to leave soon. I was impressed with how Roy handled it. Once we got on the bus William obviously sat with Roy and they pretty much played I Spy and Rock Paper Scissors the whole ride back to the school.
It was such a good time and there was a lot to do there. Roy mentioned that he asked William what his favorite color is (red, green, and black) so he got a red scrapbook to make William’s yearbook. I’m excited for the yearbook at the end of the year ha. He also asked what William is going to be for halloween because he asked him and William told him different things. It was just fun and I’m glad I got to meet Roy and see how he interacts with William because even though Anthony and I requested him it’s just nice to see that we made a good choice for someone that will be standing by our son during events.
I posted photos on instagram :)
