my most prized magic cards. part of premodern nicfit
This is Ms. Codex 1057, a Ferial Psalter. All one hundred and fifty Psalms were recited each week during the Divine Office, and were gathered into books called Psalters. Psalters that also include antiphons, responses and other prayers, together with rubrics indicating the offices, are known as Ferial Psalters. This one was copied in Italy, probably Trento, around 1350, although the binding is not original - it's a late 16th-century blind-stamped pigskin with two brass clasps.
If you’d like to see more manuscripts up close and personal, consider registering for upcoming Coffee With A Codex events. Every Monday (Wednesday in 2022) we meet for 30 minute on Zoom at 12pm ET / 5pm GMT. It’s just a chance for us to talk about our collections, and for you to take a look at some cool manuscripts.

Premodern Fanfiction
FELLOW NERDS: There is a colloquium happening today at Oxford University on Premodern Fanfiction and I wish I were there. There are people tweeting. Here is the website.
This sounds amazing.
I want all the conferences to be like this now.
