pre-optometry kinda cool tho
Although I am still currently undecided on which pre-health track I want to pursue, one track that I never considered an option for myself that has recently piqued my interest is the pre-optometry path. Something about myself that never fails to shock people is that while my right eye prescription is -4.00, my left eye has 20/20 vision. I often find myself wondering: what causes this to happen? How common is it? How can I get it treated, if possible? These are all questions optometrists study and work with patients to solve. Optometrists are responsible for diagnosing their patients for vision problems, testing depth and color perception and ability to focus the eyes, and detecting eye diseases, such as glaucoma. They are very experienced with handling eye charts, ophthalmic eye test lenses, and retinal cameras, and can accordingly provide visual correction through prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses. Not only does the pre-optometry path interest me because of my fascination with how the human eyes function and get treated, I also believe that being able to provide patients with something as simple as reading glasses and making such a remarkable difference in their everyday lives is such a blessing.
