So to take time to do an interview about yourself and how you feel, I don’t know. I think everyone should have the opportunity to have more time to thank people. That’s what it’s about. And that’s an honest answer.”

Have you written your acceptance speech?

I have something kind of prepared in case I win so I make sure I get everyone that I want to thank.

What do you think of the decision to interview actors on-camera right after they win?

Honestly, it’s new. It could work. I feel at that point it would almost be better to thank more people than have someone ask, “Are you excited?” “Of course,” and stuff like that. But I’m not trying to be disrespectful. I just think it’s better to do the traditional speech. But whatever works. I think the interview could work out well because it’s new and it will change things.

You have a unique Daytime Emmy experience: competing head-to-head with the actor who plays your love interest. Do you and Chandler Massey have a betting pool about which one of you will win?

We’ve been joking around about writing each other’s speeches. As long as one of us wins. We’ll be happy. Even if the other guys win, that’s great too. But Chandler and I are pulling for each other. Once you’re nominated, you start to realize, like, I didn’t even think I would be nominated. So for me to win would be a big surprise.
