Jasmine@Daryl: Waitttt a second... so if you're the pup's dad, that means the mother was a Houndour or 'Doom, right?? Two lovers, separated by a line between two worlds- wild and civilization... how romantic...! ... but... it's probably hard on your kid, huh? Being caught wondering where they belong...
I worry about her everyday…
And regardless of where their mom was from my pup belongs here on the farm with me. There’s no reason for anyone to think otherwise.
Nalusa@Puppy: Oh, so your Granny spoke tales of your mother, did she? What sort of tales did she tell? What was your mother like in those?
Granny told me a whole bunch of them!
There was the one with the fearow and the one with the drilbur and the one with the goat chase and the one with the ursaring, and a ton more! The ursaring is my favorite though because mom was really smart in it and got the fighting to stop.
Oooh! I’ll tell it to you!
One day mom went with her family to the berry patch that was in their territory. When they got there a great big ursaring stood up roared at them!
Granny was quick to jump to her pup’s and territory’s defense! She leapt forward with a fire burning in her mouth and met the Ursaring head on!
But mom knew that this was a battle that didn’t need to be fought and as Granny battled the Ursaring mom looked around to see what she could do to stop the fighting. She noticed that in the bushes behind the Ursaring some cubs were hiding and she realized why the bear wasn’t running away.
Then she did the one thing that none of of her siblings would have tried; she talked to the cubs.
I dunno why mom’s siblings wouldn’t try talking to the cubs but Granny told me that that’s just not how things are done in the woods. It seems really scary living like that.
Anyhow!
Mom learned from the cubs that the Ursaring would try to leave if given the option. Their mom was only fighting to protect them like Granny was fighting to protect her pups.
Mom bravely stepped into the fight and told this to Granny. At first Granny didn’t believe her but then she noticed that the Ursaring wasn’t trying to attack anymore.
Once the fighting was over the Ursaring was quick to find her cubs and leave. And that’s the story of how Mom stopped Granny and the Ursaring from hurting each other over a problem that wasn’t really a problem!
And I want to do that too! Even when I get strong like Dad and Ma and Granny I don’t want to hurt anyone. I want to be like my mom was.
Hey Charti, do you know anything about Pup's mother?
Pup really took all of us, minus Daryl I guess, by surprise. None of us here on the farm had suspected that there was a romance going on between them.
As for what I do know, it really isn’t much.
Since she never ventured too far into the farm I really didn’t ever get to talk to her myself. She was pretty big news around the farm pokemon when she first showed up though, and given that this place doesn’t get much big news it didn’t take long before we all knew about her.
Daryl was always kind of tight lipped about her but the miltank loved to gossip when they had a chance and I guess she’d talk to them every now and again.
According to them she was really smart. Not to make her seems special or anything since this is all second hand info, but apparently she knew a lot about farms and humans even though as a forest pokemon she shouldn’t have had a chance to learn about that stuff.
I’d normally call BS on that kind of tale but who am I to decide that since I’ve never held a conversation with her in the first place.
But um… If you want to know more ask Daryl or Lady. They actually knew her. Oh, and maybe Pecha too? She was brought to the farm only a few months before Pup was given to us and their mom disappeared but she acts like she knows some kind of big secret about them.
I still wish I had taken the chance to talk with her before she vanished. Just so I would have something more to tell Puppy.
Nalusa@Puppy: would you like to try something? Try telling a story like your Granny. You could tell us about her and we would all have fun doing it.

Wow! Those smell great~!
Alright!
Once upon a time…
In a cold, faraway place there was a young houndoom and her new family!
She had a mate and four very cute houndour puppies that she loved very much.
Although their home was cold and hard to live in they had each other, and there was nothing the pack couldn’t do. Even though this was her and her mate’s first family they were smart and confident that they could take care of their pups.
However the place they called home wasn’t very safe. There were strange monsters that would travel through their home and try to hurt or steal away pokemon.
It didn’t take long before the monsters claimed one of her pups.

her family began to shrink.
Not wanting to see her last pup taken away as well they left their cold home and traveled to a place the ground was soft and green and the air was warm. Never had they seen such a nice place!
But the houndoom knew better this time. She needed to take her pup somewhere where the thieving monsters couldn’t reach them.
At last they found the perfect place. Although there was plenty of food smells there were no other pokemon like her there! And even though it was close to where some monsters lived she knew that this was a place that they wouldn’t go.
Happy in her new home the houndoom was able to bring three new pups into the world! My mom was one of them!
And Granny, the houndoom from the story, promised her new pups that she’d never let anything happen to them!
…
I don’t think she was able to keep that promise though.
Neither Granny nor Dad will tell me that story…
But I hope you liked the story Ms Ariados! I tried to tell it like Granny did but her way involved singing so I don’t know how accurate mine was without.
*a note stuck to a barn wall with web awaits puppy with sloppy writing* "i know it's dangerous for you and i, me being here, so i await you by the woods behind the bull field. i am curious and slightly jealous to hear about another granny being spoken of, but i will try not to take too much of your time. grannies just gotta know about each other, you know? i look forward to meeting you once again, lil pup"
I found some good smelling flowers for you on the way!
I even thought up a story to tell you about Granny! I think you’ll like it!
Hey Lady--what's up with the woods? Have you been there before? Any gingerbread houses we should know about?
The danger of the woods is more of the normal sort. Predators and other aggressive kinds of pokemon call the woods their home.
60 or so years ago it was quite the different story. When the farm was built the farmers could just go into the woods and shoot or trap whatever pokemon was giving them trouble. Between the different farms in the area they just about wiped out the native predators like Houndoom, Mightyena, Ninetales, Zoroark, Linoone, and Ursaring.
Even though they threatened our herds it was still quite sad.
However, about 30 years later a law was put into effect that turned the woods into a protected space so Rangers could start reintroducing some of the native pokemon. Needless to say it didn’t go over very well with the agricultural community. The farmers could still trap or shoot any predator that came onto their lands but the woods were off limits so they couldn’t completely fall back on their old methods.
With the woods protecting them predators flourished over the years. Occasionally we’ve had one or two trouble makers that attack farm pokemon but those don’t tend to last very long. Generally the rule of thumb is that farm pokemon are safe on the farm and wild pokemon are safe in the woods. Go where you don’t belong and… well…
