hey, i've seen a couple of times now, whenever karlie wears cartier love jewelry, they (gaylors) say "... she has matching with taylor", but i've only seen taylor wear it like once maybe
do you have a master post on cartier specifically, or if you could just clear it up a bit for me, where did that come from?

hi! i haven’t ever made a cartier masterpost for all the pieces, nor for just the cartier love collection pieces. so let me take this opportunity to give you a rundown! so first off, the facts, karlie owns a cartier love ring and bracelet (both of which she notably wore to eras tour, when she went to eras tour. did i mention, karlie went to eras tour? karlie went to eras tour.).
my understanding of where that wording from gaylors or kaylors comes from is that, it intends to point out that taylor has at times incorporated cartier love pieces into her work, which can be seen as a way of honoring karlie’s personal cartier love pieces, which are known to be very meaningful to her. we know they are meaningful to karlie because of things karlie have said—for example, karlie often talks in interviews about how she bought her cartier love ring with her first paycheck as a model.
karlie also notably owns a cartier tank watch (and more recently she’s been wearing a baignoire watch), and several cartier necklaces (amulette de cartier in onyx and cartier d’amour), and of course a cartier juste un clou bracelet (the one that looks like a hardware nail) which she’s had for many years as well. you can look through all the instances of all the pieces she’s worn over the years here.
i think that overtime this point about taylor wearing cartier has become a little bit blurred by shorthand kaylors or gaylors use, and people think it means kaylors are saying that taylor owns the exact same cartier love pieces that karlie does. that is something we don’t know. i am fairly positive we have not seen taylor wear cartier love pieces in candids or social media. you can browse a fairly comprehensive list of times taylor has worn cartier here.
but that’s not the point anyway, it doesn’t need to be, i would contend. it’s about taylor paying homage to karlie visually, and in a 1:1 way, by referencing items that are important to her.
all this being said, it’s worth mentioning that taylor has also repeatedly worn an agrafe herringbone necklace by cartier over the past few years, and she has worn other cartier pieces in public outings before as well, (including a juste un clou necklace) so i do think she likes cartier, and it’s pretty clear she owns stuff from cartier. (i would like to point out here that, there is a cartier photo book in the ME! music video, in their apartment. ME!, the music video about all the things that make taylor taylor.)
so it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine she might own pieces from cartier’s love collection as well, and that she’s simply never worn them. but again, the argument shouldn’t be allowed to be recentered on whether or not she owns the same pieces. rather, it’s about the iconography. cartier is meaningful both to karlie and holds a place in taylor’s world as well.
now to dive into the times that taylor has worn cartier love pieces. because i think that the times where she has worn cartier love pieces for photoshoots are noteworthy and meaningful in some ways. the two big examples are the rainbow dresses for the reputation album photoshoot, the album that is infamously referred to as being about karlie. and for the september 2019 vogue cover, which at the time many here had pinned as a potential tell-all coming out opportunity. that didn’t happen. (personally, i think that the inclusion of the ring on this cover photo is sort of like a… statement, as to why. (she’s setting off…but not without her muse)). both instances to me are noteworthy examples of incorporating pieces meaningful to karlie into moments in taylor’s career for which karlie played a pivotal role in taylor’s actions.
also, this is a little prequel content for you but, taylor is first documented wearing a cartier love piece in a cover for marie claire back in july 2010. which *pulls out calculator* would have been right before the very earliest that karlie could have bought the cartier love ring, based on the story she tells in interviews, as mentioned above. so there’s an invisible string for ya!
incidentally, this has happened again with another cartier piece. the amulette de cartier! taylor first wore one for elle magazine june 2015. karlie then famously begins wearing a small onyx one in 2018, and again during the pandemic in 2020.
anyways it’s (cartier is) just one of these things that if you’ve been paying attention to kaylor for many years, you’ve come to see as a kaylory brand. because of these various connections, the meaning imbued in the pieces by cartier and then of course with how meaningful taylor and karlie both say jewelry is to them 😌
