She died. Somewhere back in Africa.
(A very brief, semi-destroyed, barely-recovered record on Hoyt’s mixed, illicit, then-controversial parentage (father Cobus Volker + mother, Awandé Moloi) by Willis Huntley for Jason Brody, gathered from South African archives \ Johannesburg which Hoyt himself sought to erase entirely in order to cover up his tracks and smudge his unclear identity after his father’s untimely, unresolved murder and his own, personal entanglement with the local Pirate Consortium which he later on took over almost single-handedly, seating himself at the position of his overthrown, betrayed former Boss and employer at the dawn of the Apartheid’s very last stand and the radical turn of the political tide within the borders of the newly-formed, re-instituted rainbow nation which he promptly fled from alongside an army of buccaneers, mercenaries and men for the hire gathered from all over the continent at his side (going as far and as beyond as Columbia and The Americas), right before finding his new headquarters and field of operation on the remote Oceanic, South-Pacific Archipelago of Rook Islands, becoming one of the most wanted men and dangerous criminals on the CIA international watch-list over the span of a decade, sought for various crimes against humanity, including a warrant on ethical cleansing, illegal drug-trade, weapon distribution, money laundering and slave-trafficking. It’s unknown if Hoyt Volker ever actually visited South African soil since.; S.A. circa 1950′s-1960′s \ my headcanonverse)

This is actually very hard for me because, for most of my shipping history, Spike’s name is usually followed by ‘and Faith’. But right now and for a long time in my home verse they haven’t been in a good place and while I think it’s actually very realistic, it still breaks my heart a little bit. It also means that I don’t know that I can write out headcanons for them that aren’t somewhat painful.
They’re looking to settle a score. Something I’ve noticed with Faith in Welcome to Lebanon/Bunkerverse is that she’s more than content to ignore Spike until all hell breaks loose and Spike’s just trying to get her attention, for what reason I’m not entirely sure. They both take every little thing as a perceived slight or an excuse to argue, both trying so hard to punish the other for whatever the hell it is they think happened all those years ago.
They fight for the sake of fighting. No one takes Spike seriously and Faith’s not used to being in a position of any kind of authority, so they seem to cut the tension by hollering at each other. The fights are shallow, they refuse to say how they actually feel or try and figure out how to get beyond all their BS. I think Spike’s terrified that if he just leaves Faith alone then it’s really over and Faith is terrified that if she ever lets Spike any closer than arm’s length she’s putting him in a position of power in her life and that didn’t end so well last time. .
They loved each other. Obviously this never-ending fight comes from a place of deep hurt, wounds that didn’t heal and probably won’t heal. What we have here is a man who wants love and to be loved but kind of sucks at the actual act of being with someone. He’s already given up at least two romantic relationships to unapologetically try and get with Buffy and the idea that this is going to magically not be the case with whoever else he’s with, if Buffy’s an option, is a little bit dim. Faith falls easily and loves hard, she won’t admit it and she has a really hard time accepting any love sent her way. She’s awesome, though, at seeing and being whipped up by rejection and possible rejection. Obviously Faith loved Spike, even a little bit, back when Buffy was still firmly set on Dean’s lap but after what happened with Faith and Spike in s7 of BtVS I don’t think she had it in her to trust him. And Faith would much rather run and ruin something, herself, than wait it out on the off chance that you might leave her. I don’t see them really forgiving each other anytime soon..
