Diplomacy | Valkyrie & Carol

a plotted starter for @presentlives​

When Valkyrie agreed to be the King of New Asgard, she knew she would have to take on diplomatic missions to build and strengthen New Asgard’s connections with other countries, planets and realms. And she knew some of those diplomatic missions would require her to bite her tongue or otherwise adjust her behaviour in the name of keeping the peace. She had not known that one mission would require her to pretend to be married. 

This planet, Mercer, had the view that all Kings should not rule alone. The gender of the King’s partner didn’t matter, as long as they had one. Otherwise, the King was not allowed to engage in any diplomatic matters with Mercer’s ruling class.

Valkyrie had not yet found a true partner so the Avengers had provided her with a fake one: Carol Danvers. Valkyrie looked over at her ‘wife’, Carol, and gave the other woman a strained smile. “Are you sure you want to do this?” Valkyrie asked for the umpteenth time since their ship had left New Asgard. They were now making their final approach to Mercer and therefore this was Carol’s last opportunity to fly herself back to Midgard.
