according to an anecdote in C.W. Goodyear's book, President Garfield, garfield saw one for the first time on his first trip to new york. I'm fairly certain he would have been that age at that time.

Won the election despite not wanting to be president

Got shot by some rando who hadn’t showered or changed in a month, because he felt that Garfield owed him a position he wasn’t qualified for on behalf of services he never provided

Died because the surgeon didn’t wash his hands before shoving them in the wound to try and find the bullet
