We are hiring! Letterpress Operator Wanted at Lilikoi Design + Letterpress

Lilikoi Design + Letterpress is looking for a press operator for their manually operated Chandler & Price letterpress at their Hayes Valley, San Francisco studio. About Us: We are a graphic design and letterpress printing studio offering a wholesale collection of cards, stationery, gift tags and art prints sold to stores around the world with locations such as Berlin, Japan and New York. We also offer custom work which includes wedding invitations, stationery, business cards, etc). We are seeking a press operator who is detail oriented, patient (our 126 year old press named Peach has her moments), great with color and has a strong work ethic—we work hard and have fun. He or she must hold a strong passion for letterpress and creating by hand. We work with tight deadlines for custom work and strive for the highest quality work. Our light filled studio is intimate, so being able to work closely with the owner and follow detailed instruction is a must. Our studio is in a desirable location that is centrally located and easily accessible to public transportation. 

Qualifications: Experience is preferred, however, we are looking for someone who is the right fit and is willing to grow with us—candidates with little experience will be encouraged as we are willing to train. We are looking for someone who is a self starter and can work independently. This ideal press operator will be able to work patiently and problem solve. Working efficiently and producing high quality work under minimal supervision. - Some experience/knowledge of letterpress printing - Appreciation for the art of letterpress printing and drive to develop into a skilled press operator - Excellent communication skills - Team player, yet result-oriented - Problem-solving skills to reflect level of responsibilities - Ability to identify areas of continuous improvement and make recommendations and/or implement solutions - Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Details: - Part-time with the opportunity to lead to full-time - Schedule is flexible - Compensations DOE Responsibilities include: - Mixing ink to match desired PMS color - Cutting paper - Printing with precision - Press setup, operate and cleanup - Keeping the studio clean and organized - Assisting with packaging retail items and fulfilling orders - Assisting with QC and packaging custom orders - Reviewing inventory and advising needs for upcoming jobs To Apply for this position: - Email your cover letter and résumé to [email protected] To learn more about the owner, Andria and her thoughts on Lilikoi and the art of letterpress click HERE (scroll half way down)
