Haruhi desperately sprinted through the woods, trying to outrun- or at least outmaneuver- the pursuing soldiers. She wasn’t even sure what she had done to offend them, but she knew that they had really short tempers and really hot lasers. She had to wonder how a civilization that short-tempered could get so technologically advanced without destroying themselves first.

“Screw this!” she yelled. In one fluid motion, she brought her wrist up, her wrist opened to reveal the Universal Transport, and she slammed her other hand down on the control, disappearing in a flash of light.

She reappeared mid-run, falling face-first onto the ground. She got up, taking a moment to mark the previous universe as dangerous as her wrist closed back up.

She then realized that she had reappeared in front of a person.

“Ah...” she chuckled and waved nervously. “H-hi, there...”
