Hi! :D I'm sorry if you've been asked this before, but I was wondering in TF, what does it mean to be sparkbonded? I tried to google it but I couldn't get a lot of info and I'd love to know how it works! :D

It’s a term mostly in fanon where it means to be bonded or “married.” Or that other bot is your soulmate/significant other. it’s popularly considered to be a binding and lifelong thing. I guess however it works is up to everyone’s personal headcanons.

For me, Charlie and Bee’s sparkbond extends her life to match his cuz I just want them to be happy and together forever okay.

Ooh!! Grimlock? :D for the ask meme thing!!

awright!!! : D so my general take on Grimlock is partly based on his IDW and Fall of Cybertron incarnations, with a few other provisos:

the first point is that Grimlock is kind of a massive troll. a while ago i hit on the idea that Grimlock’s G1 speaking quirk could be, not him having difficulties speaking or him downplaying his own intelligence, but him acting brutish specifically to throw people off when he DOES reveal his normal method of speech, just because he thinks its really funny to mess with people like that. This ties into another aspect of him; I write him as being very comfortable as adopting whatever persona is required for important work. If he needs to be a terrifying monster to frighten the Decepticreeps, he does it. This can also mean that he’s not comfortable WITHOUT some kind of persona to hide behind, like an emotional shield.

Secondly, he’s heavily inspired by Dinobot from Beast Wars. A friend of mine @nabulos and i have discussed this at length, and I think we’ve had this broad idea that Dinobot could be seen as an exemplar of Grimlock’s homeland, Simfur, and thus Dinobot’s honorable, ferocious attitude could be a model of Simfurian behavior. So Grimlock is honorable above all else, in a ferocious way!

The third thing is, I write him as having originally been a beastformer or transitioned into one, and getting a lot of flak for it. he’s been treated VERY badly due to Functionalist views, and he got wily, tough and fierce to survive it and protect others. He’s considered a vicious, terrifying monster even by his own allies, and he’s not really one, but he put on the role to survive. On some level, he has an internalized sense of being a monster; not because he’s a beastformer, but because he had to do it to stay alive, and then to fight the ‘Cons.

Fourth! Grimlock’s actually a fairly easy going guy. I imagine him as very similar to Amethyst or Bismuth from Steven Universe, if they were stuck in a never ending war where the enemy just kept getting crueler. It’s not easy for him to let down his defenses, but when he does, he’s probably a lot like his RID incarnation, though a lot cannier and more willing to mess with people.

Finally, a central point is that he hates bullies, and her has a vindictive streak. He fights the Decepticons because they would do unspeakable things to aliens uncontested, and he can’t let them do that. He might complain, grouse and growl the whole time, but he’ll never back away from defending others from his enemies, and any use of strength over the small is going to set him off. And he gets MEAN when he protects them; its partly calculated. “If I do something REALLY scary to these guys, the rest of ‘em will think twice before they do anything bad.” So there’s a lot of calculated image, and he puts a lot of effort into hiding that it IS calculated, but there’s a ton of genuine rage there that he directs very carefully. Optimus may hope for the ‘Con’s redemption, while Grimlock insists they need to suffer for their crimes, and he has a generally suspicious attitude towards a ‘Con or any long-time villain suddenly reforming.
