Abby walked a little further ahead of him. So he could watch her back, she assumed. Though she still wasn’t sure if he was using her as a human shield or not. Might as well be since finding a gun for her had been fruitless from the word go. They did find her an axe, which had been begrudgingly given to her. Sure.
