After our last post someone asked what the netting looks like on the window. Bob Spear first built these 3 inch frames and attached the netting to prevent collision injuries over 30 years ago. It has been estimated that between between 356 million and 1 billion birds are killed each by collisions. This male Ruby-throated Hummingbird collided with the (clear) backboard of a backyard basketball hoop. There are many things individuals, organizations, and municipalities can do to prevent collisions.
