anyhow, you are correct! stalking sounds a bit intense, lmao, but morreial was a spy in the second and third drafts, and he was tasked by the jervees to keep an eye on alan. so he monitored his daily activities, where he went, who he talked to, the places he frequented and why...

it was actually a big reason why alan and morreial had their argument in the non-mage world. the way that it is canonically now is that morreial gets angry at alan for reading his aura, but in the earlier drafts, alan actually gets mad at morreial first because amara reveals to him that morreial's been keeping tabs on him for months now and bro felt like his privacy was violated (fair enough). that's why, when morreial later gets mad about the aura thing, the reason they both get over it is because alan goes, "okay we both kinda violated each other's privacy. bygones?" and morreial internally goes, "no i like holding grudges" but outwardly goes, "yeah sure whatever".
it was kinda a gag, if i recall correctly, where alan would go ahead to tell morreial something and he would already know BECAUSE he had been stalking him 🤡 or the first time alan got upset, to try and comfort him, morreial ends up reaching into alan's back pocket to grab his emergency blessing coins to use in a prayer. and alan's only response is, "how tf did you know i kept those in there?" and morreial genuinely has no response outside of, "stfu don't make it weird."

or the time alan asked morreial if they wanted to walk home together and morreial straight up goes, "but you're not going home. you usually go xxxx at this time." which also makes alan go ?????? why tF DO YOU KNOW THAT??????
