sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, i believe the reason is simply because season two sucks and didn’t care to build naturally upon season one.

if you’re looking for a way to justify it to yourself, though, i don’t think it’s a stretch to say that devi, being caught up in the whirlwind of saying goodbye to her dad and then suddenly having two guys throwing themselves at her, just forgot shira existed for a hot minute. like, that’s not out of character by any stretch of the imagination.
