Throne of Vengeance: Volume 1
Amazon.ca
"Oh, but temptation is the wildest intoxication of them all."
Throne of Vengeance is a 2-volume high fantasy narrative following the protagonist, Alan, and his reflections on his inevitable downfall as he becomes entangled in the political and magical conspiracies set out to assassinate the dragon queen, Von Doro. Volume 1 acts as his humble beginnings and showcases how he became so involved with the entire group of thieves, decorated-heroes-turned-mass-murderous-villains, and the 'prince' of their kingdom, as well as plants the seeds of his eventual spiral downwards. Volume 2 showcases the consequences of all his early mistakes and what it means to become no better than the villain he sought to eradicate.
ToV Main Cast: Alan, Caramel, Von Doro, Hilbert, Morreial, Cara, Markum ja, Jervee Iyzela, Jervee Revenold, Amara, Pietro
LotF Series:
"Beauty is not so artificial than it would only exist in one's exterior, but especially not his. For when I say all the gold in the Singer Palace paled in comparison to the only one that fluttered, one gaze into those divine eyes, and you too would be awestruck at how such gentle loveliness could exist."
The LotF Series is the spin-off series to ToV, following the next generation-- the children of the main cast-- as they enter this new age of supposed peace.
CoS: After the young Evan accidentally becomes an accomplice to a horrific crime, he becomes the scapegoat to a ruthless conviction, that too, at the hands of his own parents. Upon his return to society, the story follows his journey in navigating strained family dynamics and the burdens of trauma he is forced to conceal.
GotN: Reveal in future...
EoJ: Reveal in future...
MotT: Reveal in future...
SoC: Reveal in future...
LotF: Reveal in future...
"Oh. I'm honoured. But bowing isn't how you show me your devotion... Sacrifice is."
She's still very much in the drafts right now, but the CoE is a spin-off to the LotF series, set in the world of Elayza 5 years post-SoC war. It's a pirate-mythology story following 3 main characters and 2 separate storylines that eventually converge when divine forces begin interfering with mortal battles. There are 7 books planned for this series, all of which I have already made covers for and plots I have already outlined. Oopsies lmao.
"Roy has attacked our esteem--our honour. And now, they will learn. Roy will fall."
I've been pretty vague about this one, mainly because it's also in the drafts for now, but the TIS is a high political fantasy mystery series following the kingdom of Liyana, its rise to becoming the superpower nation of the world of Inkarnyus, its bloody role in both the first Inkarnyus wars, and its inevitable role in starting the second.
Main Cast: Naliya Luceras, Kiamu TIvan, Selven Sarcony, Blaire Wynnen, Amaka Luceras, Zeena Luceras, Shadow, Fiona Desai, Ashley Valencia, Vrankensini Stein, Prince James, Alexander Marine, Jade Esterion, The One
AoNaS:
Also currently in the drafts, but the AoNaS is unique in how its my only middle-grade series. It follows the twin Ghotra sisters as they find themselves transported into an abstract, illlusionary world with mysterious powers. In order to return back to life as they know it, they have to discover the original hosts for these abilities, but things don't go as planned when they realize their new powers have made them the target to the dictator of this new world.
Honestly, this is one of the more lighthearted, for gaffs, stories I've written. The narrator is hilariously theatrical. The villains are whole comic book characters. The twin sisters are constantly bickering. Its so early 2010s, I love it.
Main Cast: Neha Ghotra, Serina Ghotra, Forys, Zebratron (yes... i know LMAO), Typhareus, Octopious (I'm not even joking with these names), Squally, Therysea

If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.
1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.
2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.
3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.
4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.
5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.
Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.
Reblog to save for later. Your WIP will thank you.
wait let me clarify: it wouldn't be things like: how do you write this kind of scene! since i lowkey don't like those posts 🤡🤡🤡 ONLY BECAUSE THE WRITING PROCESS IS SO SUBJECTIVE AND INDIVIDUAL i feel like it's unhelpful or disingenuous to tell people how to do it.
but rather, when i say tcw toolbox posts, i mean like, geeking out on a topic in a summarized post format so that yall have a reference on say, idk, architecture (i love architecture omg) in case yall wanna use it to describe buildings or rooms in a historically / period / regionally accurate way
“Haha remember when murder-hornets were gonna be a thing? What a nothingburger.”
Yes, because the Washington state government activated like a sleeper-cell and ruthlessly, systematically hunted them down and annihilated them.
“Y2K came to nothing amirite?”
Yes because an army of software engineers working around the clock, losing sleep, and busting ass till the last minute prevented it from happening.
“Remember the hole in the ozone layer?”
You mean the one that was fixed through rigorous world wide government action?
One of the root problems of our society is a refusal or inability by media to articulate that all those “it’s gonna be an apocalypse” disasters were not disasters because we collectively did something about them.
The good news is this is actually quite correctable. I maintain my firm belief that we as humans are capable of solving almost all of our problems, when we decide to do so.
And I still think that’s going to happen. I don’t know when or how, but I do know that abandoning hope won’t help bring it about.
And I refuse to let the cynics own a chunk of my heart.

I do not wish to write with people who actively use Generative AI.
If you write with me, you won't ever have to fear any AI being used to doing my replies for you. I will not feed your writing to ChatGPT and the like, and I would appreciate it if you don't feed my writing to any kind of Generative AI either. You do not have my consent to do so.
If I reblog AI images/text or use images for aesthetics/graphics that were originally generated without realizing, please let me know. Generative AI images have infiltrated Pinterest and other sites so much, it can be hard to tell sometimes.
Does anybody know how to make a good geographical world building? Like with maps, how rocky it is n everything. Also how do yall handle politics and law? Please help :(
It’s (political)

okay first of all--honoured that you tagged me in this. MWAH that means so much i can't explain why. i feel like im going back to my roots with this post LOL
welcome to a tcw toolbox post!
"how to write geographical / political worldbuilding?"
i'm not going to waste too much time on an intro. without further ado... let's get into it.
okay let's start politics. mini crash course for sociology so we can delve into political structures and the things to consider when creating a political structure.
so many people default to the governemnt style that they live under. makes sense, since--ye know, write what you know. but there are more government styles than just an aristrocracy or monarchy, or the US's version of a democracy.
first of all--define your society. what types of institutions are at play: do they value education for all or select; how does the family structure look like; how integrated is religious practise and doctrine in the structural basis of society; DO THEY HAVE A RATIONAL AUTHORITY or do they follow more traditional, implied rules?
does this sound like jargon? cool--lemme explain.
prior to trying to worldbuild your place as a PLACE, think of it as a collection of individuals. this Society is now your character, and your character has a name, a backstory, motivations, history, idealogies, systems, routines, practises, relations, etc.
what is Society's values? what do they define morality as? what is their moral compass? answering this question echoes throughout all your government structures, since most governments work to institutionalize and standardize moral structures into formative laws. the "rational authority" i mentioned earlier is a written set of laws. not every society has an actual constitution or "law book". so many people assume they do because that is what they are exposed to, but if you want your government structure to fr be some authoritative figure who "what they say, goes. their word is law," YOU CAN DO THAT, AND THAT IS A DOCUMENTED GOVERNMENTAL STRUCTURE.
quick dot jots on different government styles:
rational legal authority: legal rules and regulations documented in formalized structure in which all institutions must function
traditional authority: traditions and customs are what act as the framework for government. how has it always worked? we can't break traditions. this is how we function.
charismatic authority: a persuasive figure who retains power via logical or charming arguments
when it comes to how control is relayed / given out:
aristarchic governments: a small group of elites retain decision making power, with no authority from the public (these are your aristrocracies or mentocracies)
autocractic governments: a singular person OR a small group of people retain absolute power over decisions (i..e dictatorships or facist governments)
monarchist governments: a singular or group INHERITED authority with absolute decision making power (can be absolute or constitutional, where absolute is the 'their word is the law' vs constitutional places them within the bounds of formalized laws)
now consider the election process (authoritarian/totalitarian processes, democratic processes via direct or representative democracies; or oligarchic governments. you could even include theocracies acc)
i could continue to yap about this OOP SORRY, so let's move onto how this plays into writing.
choose a government style that aligns with your Society's views. why? because if they are in opposition, then unless you have a revolution as your plot or in the background, how tf are they still in power? they can be, absolutely, but this adds tension that would definitely aid in providing substance, lore, and general immersion to your story. say, for example, the majority of a population is a minority group without your story set in an absolute oligarchic government. these people do not have enough power to revolt against the elites that have power, despite contributing the most to society and having the most manpower. they create culture; they act as the voices of the public; they are how and why society is ACTUALLY running. their values are the hidden implicit values and culture of society. but they do not have power, and therefore, they do not hold government.
see, now that's interesting!
if you want to have a society that contrasts its fundamental values, just know and value the fact that that decision adds automatic tension to your world. tension that should ripple through the way of life or decisions your characters make. you don't have to outright acknowledge it if you don't want to (i'd honestly find it so much more interesting if a story just went, "ah shit i have to avoid going outside now, the patrols are out" and everyone local nodded as if they understood but someone from another district or province goes, "ah patrol for what?" because WOW you just told me so much about your world in that small exchange).
ANYWAY SORRY IM YAPPING AGAIN.
the point is--prior to formalizing how political exchanges, court decisions and conspiracies go (i could do a separate post on how to write a court room scene or a debate / petition / hearing, etc.)--consider firstly how your society is structured, what it values, what institutions are upheld to reflect and reinforce those values, and who holds power in your society (+how it is distributed/elected/maintained/etc.)

NOW LET'S TALK GEOGRAPHY! :D
okay, some general ecological regions you might benefit from knowing:
mountains
buttes
deserts
plains
fields
praire
plateau
savannah
grassland
glacier
tundra (not always arctic btw)
hillside
volcanic
hot springs
island / tropics
rainforests
forests
woodlands
coastal
beaches
ponds (artifical or natural)
coves
grottos
lakes (fresh or salt)
sea
ocean
strait
rivers
streams
waterfalls
valleys
canyons
bay
bayou
okay that's all i can think of on the top of my head rip 👹
the point is, each of these places are characterized by: the topography of the land (that's the landform / surface features; how flat/hilly/ridged/rocky/etc); the water bodies / hydration levels; the CLIMATEEEEEEEEE (sorry but this is IMPORTANT); and its habitability.
when i was younger i was extra asf. i drew maps based on the tremor of my hand (i would close my eyes and let my hands shake until i created what felt like a land mass to myself, and then connected the horrid lines and called it a day). from there, i drew a compass; the equator; defined the laws of physics in my world; and then based on its positionality around the globe (if my world was a globe and had a sun), described the climate features of the region.
for example, albridor is significantly above the equator, so they tend to have colder climates and more defined seasons. as a result, their weather has more extremes vs mildness, and because they're close to the coast, not only do they have access to different water bodies (for trade, travel, war, etc), but those water bodies also influence their topography over time. there is a mountain range in a region where two prehistoric islands theoretically collided to form those structures, but as a result, they are prone to more earthquakes and avalanches for the more northern appalanchians. meanwhile, berna has milder weather, but because it lies near the trades and a valley, the landmass almost acts as a wind tunnel, resulting in highly windy, hurricane-prone regions.
SEEEEE HOWWW CLIMATEEE AFFECTS A LOTTTT???
because now this changes their way of life! are they flood prone and coastal? you bet they should have a system in place now in case of a next flood. otherwise, overthrow that foolish government omg.
what about landmarks? ive lived close to a valley before and it was so stunning that there were 'seasons' when it got crowded because of how gorgiena it was. as a result, the city invested in a park and maintenance, and that drove the economy.
OH MY GOODNESS I FORGOT TO MENTION THE ECONOMY--
okay, so this is my basic tangent so far. pls let me know if you want a follow-up or have questions. both my inbox and reblogs are open.
