“Such hostility. It’s understandable, people have probably not been very kind to you.”
She gave a slight bow.
“My name is Akane, and I would like to invite you to stay in my guest room, at least for the night... It looks like it’s going to rain.”
"Woah! I didn't see you, there!"
Akane didn’t seem at all bothered by having been bumped into. She adjusted her kimono where it had been nudged slightly out of place.
“No worries, darling. You must be in a rush.”

Akane strolled into the holding cell looking every bit as elegant as she would if she were on her way to a formal banquet. There wasn’t a single crease in her kimono, nor a hair out of place in her intricate bun. Nothing about her suggested she was here to torture the trespasser.
“Well, little one, it would seem that we both told a lie. You are not a lost hiker, and I do hurt little girls. How about we make this easy and you just answer my questions?”

Akane held the child in a loose grip, partially cradling her.
“I have somewhere wonderful to take you. Lots of new friends would love to meet you, won’t you like that? And I’ll buy you a treat. I bet you like cotton candy.”
“Is there a reason you’ve been following me for an hour?”
“You must be mistaken, dear. I’ve only just gotten off the train.”
“I don’t even know you. What do you mean, I ‘have’ to go with you?”
“Don’t you remember? We took that pottery class together! Come outside, I just have to tell you about the kids…”
She said this a little louder than her normal speaking tone. She grabbed Rune’s arm softly but with enough force to convey the urgency of the situation. Once outdoors, she leaned over and whispered.
“I saw a guy put something in your drink, I needed to get you out of there without causing a commotion.”
“Woah! I didn’t see you there!”
“Clearly.”
Akane looked none too pleased, but stood up gracefully and brushed the dirt from her kimono.
“Do watch where you’re going, little one.”
