i can't reply to your posts but to add to the pile of confusion: the unversed symbol (or smth like it) is definitely in the symbol-based language found in scala ad caelum. not sure if it's like "a chicken or the egg" situation or what to make of it, honestly.

oh is it ??  DANG i wasn’t aware of that !!  the idea of the unversed specifically being something that more people than just vanitas can create feels strange to me, since they’re so strongly tied to vanitas’ emotions and how he was created - but the idea of other beings being able to do something similar, like create their own creatures from feelings / memories / experiences that end up looking different could have a possibly of becoming a thing ?

     for a moment, that was all that he could manage. his greatest fear, for as long as he could remember, was losing his friends. and as his friendship circle expanded, so did his support, the people who made his heart stronger and able to conquer any trial that stood in his way. but as that group grew, so did the amount of people he had to lose. LOSING them all in one fell swoop had left a mark on his heart that he knew would be there forever, and leaving them, even knowing what the cost might be, had reopened that wound.

     he would never regret his decision–––– he would do it again and again and again if he needed to–––– but that didn’t change the fact that it HURT.

     but, it was better this time. he had to BELIEVE that. they were safe–––– every single one–––– and he was safe ( safe? was this place safe? could he even be harmed again? he didn’t have the answer. that was scary, too. ). he could get back to them, no matter how long it took.
