Denver Beech,4, had fun at the second annual Youth Pride Durham event, at Sinclair Secondary School June 8. The event included drag queen performances, food, an information village with local organizations that support youth, and headline performer T. Thomason. All the crushes for my chosen family! @houseofcoxx you are my hoses family for a reason. Through collaboration, discussion, frustration, and performance we have created art, entertainment, space, and joy. Our drag mother @vivicaccoxx taught us three things above all 1) Always Consent, and if possible do so enthusiastically. 2) To pay people not just their worth, but for their time, because everyone’s is precious and 3) Provide space, support, and voice to whom needs it, because we are apart of a community. If we respect diversity we acknowledge intersectionality and with that can come disparities and checking our privileges against our abilities is paramount to understanding how we can serve those that surround us.
